R2, G2: Panthers @ Maple Leafs - May 7th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

If someone like Pickard can step in and lead a team when needed (Remember him as a Leaf ???) Matt Murray can defenelly do it, he did it already. Twice.

Woll's games at playoffs were always good. Not much experience on it, but he was solid with a worse D and defensive system.

Dream revenge tonight: Sam Bennett turns over the puck and Leafs end up scoring the winning goal on that play.

I honestly didn't remember this happening this way but Woll against the Panthers in 2023.

Game 3 - Comes in relief early in the 2nd period while the Leafs are up 1-0 and the Leafs lose 3-2 in OT. Stops 18 of 21 (.857 SV%)
Game 4 - Stops 24/25 in a 2-1 win
Game 5 - Stops 40/43 in a 3-2 OT loss

Game 1 - Comes in relief midway through the 2nd period and stops 17/20 (.850 SV%)

I have faith in Woll when he starts the game instead of coming in cold.

The last time the Leafs played Florida in the playoffs they finished their final 7 games of the playoffs scoring 2 goals a game.

Tampa Game 5 - 4-2 loss
Tampa Game 6 - 2-1 OT win
Florida Game 1 - 4-2 loss
Florida Game 2 - 3-2 loss
Florida Game 3 - 3-2 OT loss
Florida Game 4 - 2-1 win
Florida Game 5 - 3-2 OT loss

Scoring 5 early in this series was big. I think in general the Leafs are a better balanced team...even just by having players in the bottom 6 who can go out on the ice and not be a complete waste of space even though the core is still relied on to score most of the goals.

I think just doing what they've been doing is key. Keep games tight, keep shooters to the outside, make a move when opportune. Instead of losing I do think we can win the tight games as long as Woll gives them average goaltending.

Definitely feel a bit better seeing that Murray is listed as the backup tonight. Maybe that's a false sense of security, but hopefully we don't have to find out. Was actually wondering why Hildeby was the EBUG the other night over Murray.

If I'm the Leafs, I'm attacking anyone who touches Woll tonight. There has to be zero tolerance. I'd also be trying to arrange some "incidental" contact on Bobrovosky any time it's possible.

If I'm the Leafs I probably send Lorentz over to Reinhart and tell him if they don't knock it off Bobrovsky is leaving on a stretcher.

Obviously I certainly hope it doesn't come to this but I'm glad Murray's getting the nod for back-up here.

Just my two cents..... Stolarz will be out for this entire series.

1. I was at game. They showed a different replay than TV. Its very clear it was an extended elbow with force to the back side of head.

2. Stolarz fell immediately. Hes a 6 foot 6 monster. He doesnt fake like Samsinov.

3. Stolarz puked. Can't fake that. Symptom of concussion.

4. It was Bennett, who is the best in the league at laying the dirtiest most covert hits to worst areas (head mostly) with intent to destroy....not intimidate.

5. Berube said it was an elbow to head very clearly

6. The media that say it was hard to determine whether it was intentional...or a glove....or whatever can all go f#ck themselves. If they didn't see no. 1 above.... they know 2 through 5 and just some basic mature reason can let you make conclusions.

7. So can the NHL by allowing this.....multiple times and it will likely happen again this series. Colin Campbell is a virus to a great game.

In summary....Stolarz' injury was bad...from my view. Concussion protocol is usually 2 to 3 weeks in NHL from my understanding.

I hope I am wrong.

For god sake quit falling down boys. And two bad giveaways already, Florida with the definite advantage so far. Another impotent PP after one good chance. Not liking the start.
