Tavares and Marner create a bit cap chunk but you are also trying to replace 60 goals and 170 points between the two of them. Tavares defensive game I think gets overrated a lot. Marner whether we like his game in the postseason or not is still a great player defensively.

I don't see how this team isn't drastically worse next year...and this is in the era of Montreal coming fast, Ottawa getting their first playoff taste. I could honestly see this team missing the playoff next year...and I'm ok with that to start sorting this out
