Ranking Prospects - 2017-18

Eemeli R?s?nen is an intriguing prospect.  Seems like the type of d-man the Leafs could use.  Hopefully he develops.

Think Connor Brown but even more skilled.

Johnsson's an interesting player because he's eligible for waivers next season, but he hasn't even gotten a whiff of a NHL chance yet.

One thing about Johnsson is that it took him about half a year to get going in the AHL last year....he was also coming off a concussion from that dirty Albany team in the postseason the year before.

My sense of the organization?s position on Johnsson is that he?s pretty much another Brown. Brown didn?t get much NHL time (7 games to close out the tank) but he had basically already won an NHL job before that and was held down for recovery reasons.

Noooooooooooooo

Most of you have Middleton as your favourite Leafs prospect, and, well, he's not letting you down this year.  He's got 14 points in 20 games for a pretty bad Saginaw team.

Wow he might make for an alright ECHLer after all.

These beautiful 2015 draft babies:

Speaking of our 2015 draft babies growing up... here's more on Dermott being the Marlies' version of Morgan Rielly. There are certainly hints of how the Leafs are asking their defense to play as well (very active, more puck holding than chipping).

He scored a goal Saturday afternoon, and went for the Super Saiyan celly.

Umm...

RUSProspects: Yegor Zaitsev has been named captain of Team Russia U20 for the #WorldJuniors, Nikita Makeyev and Mikhail Maltsev are the alternates. twitter.com/russiahockey/s?

Or, are you just trolling again?

OHL trade frenzies (like after the WJCs and before the trade deadline) are the craziest things. The Kingston Frontenacs (Eemeli Rasanen's team) are 4th in the Eastern conference. In the span of a week they acquired:

Sean Day (3rd round pick of the Rangers, 2016)
Gabriel Vilardi (1st round pick of the Golden Knights, 2017)
Cliff Pu (3rd round pick of the Sabres, 2016)
Max Jones (1st round pick of the Ducks, 2016)

What did they give up you might ask? Not much:

Sergey Popov
KGN 3 2021
KGN 2 2023
Nathan Dunkley
WSR 3 2019
KGN 2 2020
Cody Morgan
MISS 2 2020
KGN 3 2020
KGN 2 2022
KGN 2 2024
KGN 2 2025
KGN 3 2023*
KGN 2 2027*
KGN 2 2028*

In addition to Rasanen's team loading up, one of our large what-the-heck picks, Nicolas Mattinen, was traded from the dismal Flint Firebirds to the Hamilton Bulldogs, snagged by Bulldog's GM and former Leafs' manager of player development Steve Staios.

He's currently sitting at 5/17/22 in 38 games, after going 2/6/8 in 66 GP buried on London last season.
