Round 1: (C1) Colorado vs. (W1) Minnesota

I know its WAY premature.... but, Sidney Crosby might not even be the best player from Cole Harbour, NS in a few years.  What an electric start to a playoff career.

Well, when Crosby was 18-19 he had 102 points.

Yeah, it's really not a fair comparison. Even MacKinnon's draft year junior numbers pale in comparison to Crosby's (2.7 points per game vs. 1.7).

MacKinnon's having a heck of a playoff debut and is definitely going to be a star in this league, but two games doesn't put him on the same planet as Crosby.

I knew it would take someone less than an hour to bring up stats :P  Of course it would be you first :P

Since we are talking stats... Crosby, at 19, only had 5 points in 5 playoff games to start his career.  How 'bout them stats :P

Of course your original comment wasn't influenced by stats though.  :P

In typical fashion Matt Cooke just took out someone's knee. His latest victim: Tyson Barrie

Cooke is a lowlife and needs to be taken out of this league.

Looks like the Avs weathered the storm in the first period, where they were outshot 22-8. Still scoreless in the 3rd.

#24 (Marc-Andre Cliche) is not going to want to watch this over and over again.

Not his finest moment, no, but I think if he fully commits to Granlund there it's an easy pass to Stoner creeping in from the point.

Barrie is done for the playoffs. He is by far Colorado's best offensive D-man so it's a huge loss for them.

Granlund's goal was amazing though.

Cooke to attend in-person hearing...

If I were the DOPS, I'd suspend him for the rest of the playoffs, or for as long as Barrie is out.  Players like Cooke have no business playing the game as dirty as they come.  Obviously, he hasn't learned anything from his past indiscretions and subseqent
disciplines,

He gets seven games. As a repeat offender, that's a slap on the wrist. Imagine all the backlash Shanny would have gotten if he was still there.

Honestly, that seemed about right to me. Knee-on-knee hits typically don't get big suspensions. If it wasn't Cooke who did that it probably would have only been 2 or 3 games at most.

I was expecting 10 games, only because its Cooke.  CtB is right, 2-3 games would have been the call for a regular player even with a small history (like Lupul).  I'm not perturbed it wasn't more than 7, but I do think, considering Cooke's history, its just a little on the light side.

I think they also factor in playoff games as weighted more compared to regular season games.

Yup, I was taking that into account.  If this was the regular season, I'd want 12-15 games, and I bet the NHL would have given 10.
