Round 1: (C1) Colorado vs. (W1) Minnesota

That's a shame. I would have liked to see what the Avs looked like with Duchene playing a more prominent role in a series.

With San Jose being eliminated, my team to root for switches to the Wild.  Most because of Josh Harding.  Who knows how much longer he will be able to be an NHL goaltender.  I know he still hasn't played since January 2nd, but it would be nice if the Wild somehow found a way to get his name on the Cup.

Well that and Minnesota at least is one of those mid-smaller markets that actually cares about hockey so I would be ok with them winning.

Must be a disappointment for Avs fans.  And that's an understatement.  Truth is, many believed that Colorado would be the eventual winner of this round.

Guess, that's what fat contracts can do for you, as Parise & Suter both played important roles in Minnesota's ascendancy as a contender along of course, with a good supporting cast.  Never in any Avslanche's fan's 'Wild'-est dreams!

The toughest part is to not come back tomorrow and be ready for Chicago," first-year coach Patrick Roy said. "We believe in ourselves and it's hard to see that it's over.

"I'm sure tomorrow is going to hurt more thinking it's over because we still have the emotion of the game."

"It tarnishes the year a lot," said MacKinnon, who had two goals and eight assists in the series. "We wanted to make a run here and we had a chance twice to win the series, once in Game 6 and obviously tonight. It's tough to describe what went on.

"We had our chance -- don't kid ourselves," Roy said. "We had our chance and they took advantage of theirs."

Neiderreiter on scoring the winning goal:
"As a little kid, it's exactly the moment you dream about," Niederreiter said. "I'm very happy and fortunate that it happened tonight."

Congrats to the Wild on a series well-played.

Thought they had been livin' on a prayer all season, so I'm not entirely surprised they lost.  Colorado was outplayed for large stretches of the series too.  By the possession stats in the playoffs so far, Minnesota was ranked #1 in the first round and Colorado was last.  In that sense, the on-ice play really wasn't that close - Minny consistently outpossessed and outchanced the Avs.
