Round 1: Predators (C2) vs. Blackhawks (C3)

What's up with the Santorelli thing?  He looked like one of the better  Leafs forwards ....  Are the Leafs really that much worse than other teams up and down the lineup or is Santorelli just not fitting in?  They are playing Beck, Bourque ...

Kadri probably deserves a little more credit than he got for elevating the play (at least the offensive play) of guys like Santorelli and Winnik. He did a great job raising their trade values.

That was a heck of an OT period.

Basically everything great about hockey right there in a 20-minute span of play. Not sure how much of 2OT I can watch, so kinda hoping something happens early.

Chicago wins it in the 2nd OT.  Scott Darling ended up making 42 saves and played 67 minutes of shutout hockey to help get Chicago the win.  That's pretty impressive.  3 more wins to a nice pick for the Leafs.

Nothing speaks like experience the way Chicago came back and then winning it in double OT.  The Predators must be gritting their teeth over this.

Also, having Patrick Kane back did wonders to help kickstart the 'Hawks' comeback with his two assists, as did Toews and Hossa (who passed it to Keith for the OT winner.

Nice job, Chicago!

3 minutes in to game 2 and Crawford has already given up another goal. I didn't see it, of course, but it is not looking good for him in this series if Nashville keeps lighting him up like this.

Nashville 6  Chicago 2  Series tied at 1 game apiece.

With the game 3-2 in favour of the Predators at end of the second period, Nashville exploded by scoring three goals past Chicago starting goalkeeper Corey Crawford and put the game away for good..

The Predators lost captain and best defenceman Shea Weber to a lower body injury and did not return for the duration of the game.

(As an aside, Leafs fans may be interested to know that both defenceman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli made their debuts in Game 2, with Franson picking up an assist while Santorelli scored in the third that put Nashville ahead 5-2).

Game 3 will be Sunday in Chicago at 3PM ET.

Chicago wins it.  Scott Darling has reached ridiculous levels of unbeatable.  .969 SV% over three games and Chicago goes up 3-1.  Seabrook got the winning goal.

Year 1 of a 6-year, $36mil contract and Crawford has already been replaced in the playoffs. Great deal.

How about the first rounder we got for Franson and Santorelli? Franson played 13:01 while 4 other d-men played 43 minutes plus. I am glad we got what we could for him and I'm sure that's not helping his contract situation.

I saw him get walked around a few times and in OT he could have been called for tripping on a pretty good chance by Andrew Desjardins.  He's never been the most fleet of foot and I think the speed of the playoffs is exposing him a bit.

Forsberg's pretty upset at being snubbed for the Calder huh

Yeah, he gets the empty netter for the hattrick.  I mean the two forwards who got picked ahead of him did technically outscore him and this really should be Ekblad's award regardless but he was a pretty deserving ROY.
