If Carlyle's still the coach going into free agency, definitely a possibility. If Carlyle gets fired before the season ends, Fraser will no longer be an NHL defenceman this season.

A dented skulled lame 7 dman is a better option than Liles, bizarre.

At this point, if we're filling Fraser's spot, I'd want McWilliam up in his place. Liles is redundant still IMO.

Liles is a calm, veteran presence that skates well, moves the puck well and reads the play well. I like MacWilliam's potential to be a quality NHL defenceman in the future, but, the last thing the Leafs need is another inexperienced player back there - especially if that player is going to spend a good chunk of time in the press box.

It's a good point, but Liles has zero physicality. I suppose it's not worth the chance, but the whole time he'd be playing, we'd be screaming for a stay-at-home rough and tumble type.
