Stars @ Leafs - Feb. 13th, 7:00pm - SNO, Fan 590

In other news, Zack Kassian is an idiot and will soon be a suspended idiot.

I'd forgotten about the Pronger and Simon stomps.  All these are essentially assaults with a deadly weapon.

Muzzin looks like crap this period.  I wonder if he's 100%.

I like him cuz he adds an element to this team that is lacking but I hope we sign him for less than 5 million.
I wouldn't give him anymore too many mistakes and his skating is his downfall.

I think he'll be signed and it will be more than 5.

Way Dubas hands out contracts I'm sure he will.

Take a look around the league at the UFA D signing for less than 5, you just don't seem to have a grasp on the reality of NHL salaries.

Who am I kidding, you're not going to do that.

I have a good grasp of salaries thank you. I know they are constantly going up but doesn't mean you have to pay what someone is looking for.
Question comes down to what is he worth? What does he bring to the table?
I said earlier he adds some toughness to this team, which we lack so would like to see him stay but with his skating and giveaways I wouldn't go any higher. Just my opinion.
new NHL where skating and moving the puck is paramount not something he excels at.
Other question is once the 2 young guys start getting top 4 minutes where does that leave a guy like Muzzin.
Is he top pairing with Reilly? Do we add another D man who may be top 4? If we do couple years from now Muzzin will be a bottom pairing guy on this team. You want to pay him 5-6 million for that. Aint happening.

It does always seem fascinating how teams with reputations of being defensive get away with constant hooks and holds but manage to draw lots of them

I hate to complain about reffing but I think they've tilted this Dallas' way a bit.  Seguin put his stick on Barrie's mitts during the 4 on 4 and it was every bit as flagrant (which is to say, not very) as what they called Marner for.

Pretty brutal. I noticed this too tonight. Non call on the one Benn hit on Dermott where he clearly left his feet, but yet call the chinsy "hook" on Marner

Biggest beef I have is why don't the Leafs ever complain about it.
Take the f'n fine and let Bettman and rest of the clowns running this league hear about it.

Stars have scored on their first shot of each period.

Has to be pretty deflating for a team when their goalie allows that to happen.

The first two were not great, the third he had no chance.

Tonight's not the Leafs night offensively.

Win one lose one win one lose one. Think thats where this team has headed. Whatever they were doing a month or so ago has disappeared.
Part of me wants this team to go on a run and part of me thinks it's not going to do any damage even if we make the playoffs so why not get rid of some pieces and recoup some draft picks and look forward to next year. Changes are needed to this team.
