Admittedly they had a bunch of drafts where the best projected player hasn't exactly been a lights out superstar. 2013 was a pretty weak draft. 2012 they could have taken Lillard. 2011 they could have taken Valanciunas instead of Thompson. So they certainly haven't gotten lucky in the sense of winning another LeBron but for a team to have 5 top 4 picks in 4 years I really don't look at the Cavaliers as an impending breakout team.
The slew of 1st overall picks though is wonderful "the NBA is rigged" fodder though.

So with reports that Cleveland is open to trading the 1st overall pick who says no to this:
Minnesota gets: Jonas Valanciunas, Tristan Thompson, future Knicks 1st round pick
Cleveland gets: Kevin Love, Raptors 1st roundpick, Terrence Ross
Toronto gets: 1st overall pick, Dion Waiters
Minnesota gets two good young front court players to replace Kevin Love. Cleveland gets the best PF in the game and a first round pick while getting rid of a problem child in Waiters and Thompson who's a bench player with Love on the team. Toronto gets to draft Andrew Wiggins.
I suppose someone looking at that might say that if Cleveland were willing to part with the first overall pick then Minnesota would prefer that for Kevin Love but I almost sort of feel that you'd need to sweeten the pot for Cleveland there and Minnesota would balk at including anything significant.

Was looking at NBAdraft.net and a couple of crazy things I noticed about the upcoming very strong draft:
- 14 of the 30 picks in the first round aren't with their original teams
- Philadelphia, Boston, Oklahoma City, Charlotte, Chicago, Orlando and Utah all have 2 first round picks. Phoenix has 3.
- The craziness continues in the second round. Philly has 4 picks, Minnesota has 3, Milwaukee, Dallas, Toronto, San Antonio and Denver have 2 picks each.
- Neither New York based team has a pick
The Raptors, for those of you interested, pick at nos. 20, 37 and 59. Three Canadians(Andrew Wiggins, Nik Stauskas and Tyler Ennis) figure to go in the first round.

The Heat are getting blown out in an elimination Game 5. San Antonio is about to win their 5th championship. The way the Heat lost probably has significant impact on their roster. The "Big" three can all opt out this year. Wade looks completely done. Bosh is a role player and LeBron won't win a championship with this current roster.
But for today, congratulations to the Spurs on their inevitable championship.
