The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

The Jays have really got the bats going of late, which is nice.

Think of how many games the bullpen had a lead late into the game too.  They should really be much better than one game over .500 right now.  Only consolation is that the rest of the AL East is tight.

You can say that of the opposition in a handful of Jays win though too.  It's nice that the offense is firing.  I want to see them do it against the teams they need to beat in the AL East though.  Philly is really a huge mess of an organization right now.

I would like the Jays to just move to the NL East really.

Potvin, I have to acknowledge the complete zero-to-hero turn of Rasmus as of late.  I'd like to think I gave him that little extra motivation he needed.  8)

But what about Juan Francisco?  Are you kidding me?  If he keeps hitting like this, I'll take the diminished third base defense to keep his bat in the lineup, and move Lawrie over to second.  Keep it that way as long as it works.

Four wins over Philly, five in a row overall. Nice little streak. :)

Well a five game win streak is nice and all but four of those were over Philly, an awful, awful team.

They just dropped the first two to LA, a team with an actual offense. Happ couldn't get out of the third today  :o

I do not like Happ.  I can live with McGowan, but Happ?  Just can't stand watching him pitch.

Yea he is a trainwreck; you never know what you're going to get. Amazing that they actually replaced Morrow with a worse version of himself.

I wonder how much longer Santos is going to be on the team at this rate. He has been absolutely terrible.

Why do I get the sense Santos is going to end up on the DL relatively soon and that will be the reason (err, excuse) for his poor performances.

Called it.

This guy's damaged good. Looks like the White Sox pulled another fast one on the Jays. Luckily the Jays gave up nothing of substance.

I'm two for two: Francisco has struck out in 8 of his last 10 at bats.

Quick, criticize the pitching!

What an up and down season so far. 5 wins, 3 losses, 2 wins, a blowout loss. McGowan ineffective, Stroman and Wagner with disastrous outings in a 15-4 romp by Cleveland. With Happ starting tonight, the bullpen is sure to be taxed heavily yet again. Hopefully the offence is clicking tonight, otherwise it could be another L.

Just to add to this misery party, Colby Rasmus looks absolutely hopeless right now.  He is striking out like a fiend and swinging wildly.  I'm not saying he won't get his stroke back, but boy right now he looks lost.

I'm just getting into watching baseball after hardly paying attention for the last 10 years (well my PVR skipping version of watching).

Anyway I always found it funny how Bob McCown had always criticized and ridiculed Rasmus while co-hosts like Brunt, Cox, etc picked up for him. From what I seen after 40 or so games McCown is totally correct. Rasmus sucks in the field. No effort at all to try to get to some balls that many CFs would catch. He looks like he is just fielding balls during batting practice. A ball hit to the gap? Balls he should be getting to first he is backing off and Melky and Jose are beating him to it (extra bases given up). And God forbid if someone flys the ball to the outfield fence - it is guaranteed to be at least extra bases. It is like he is allergic to the warning track and stops as soon as he gets one foot on it.

I don't think you lose the ability to play a really great CF in an off-season. The early metrics for Rasmus this year aren't great but until Gose proves he can really hit to stick in the big leagues I don't think you make other plans for center field.

Hmm, I wonder just how much stock any of us should put into the analysis of a guy who hasn't watched baseball in ten years, is "slowly getting back into it," and who is watching the fast-forwarded PVR versions of the game.

Not trying to be mean or anything apples but seriously, Rasmus is a damn good defensive player, and I'm not really a fan of him at all.
