The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

After a great performance by Dickey, the Jays go back to their sloppy ways and lose 8-7 to the Angels. The fundamentals are still deplorable (another failed bunt, and a strikeout with a chance to move a runner to third with none out), and Gibby gave the critics more fodder in leaving Loup in to face Pujols on what ended up being the winning home run.

Now on to Tampa, where the Jays haven't won a series since... April 2007 - 21 (?) straight series.

And now Lind out 6-8 weeks with a broken toe.

I read somewhere it was 6-8 weeks from when he initially injured it, not from yesterday.

I hadn't heard that, but my guess might be that since he has been walking on it and hadn't started treating it that it would be from when the treatment started. Maybe someone with a bit of medical knowledge would know better - LK?

It's actually unbelievable how many Jays are going down with injury.  Reimold and Kawasaki both left tonight's game with injuries.

Seriously. The replacements' replacements are getting hurt.

Response to Lind injury coming...on call and busy but just have to say the Jays physio/medical team suck.  Year after year it's the same issue.  Too many injuries.

Jays actually announced today that, after seeking the opinion of an outside physician, the prognosis is actually better than they initially thought - he could be ready to play in 2-3 weeks.

Jays got 1B Brett Wallace from Baltimore for cash considerations. We traded him away the first time for Gose.
He is reporting to Buffalo, but with Lind out I could see him being called up shortly to fill in there and Dan Johnson going back down to the Bisons where he is having an All-Star season just shy of turning 35.

I'm not sure why Wallace would take over for Johnson. The former is barely hitting over .700 OPS in the minors. His OBP (mlb) is godawful too. Although I guess he fits right in with Rasmus and Francisco.

Heard on the FAN today that Sanchez was called up to pitch out of the bullpen. Goins was also called up, but that was only to replace Tolleson for a few days as he goes on parental leave. They also mentioned that Rogers was being called up for tonight's game for long relief.

Sportsnet reports that Kratz was sent down and Mills is DFA.

Looks like the Yankees have picked up Headley from the Padres.

Very nice debut by Sanchez in tonight's game.  Now, let's take the series tomorrow.  :)

I have faith in this team that they'll bounce back and challenge for first In the A.L.East again.  Or perhaps a wildcard spot.  The Jays have got to get back to
their upswing, and so far, so fair.

Couple of road games against the Yankees & Bosox coming up starting Thursday in New York.  C'mon, let's go Blue Jays!!

It would be really nice to see them get on a bit of a roll, that's for sure.  I just bought tickets for myself, my mom, my daughter and one of her friends (a road trip for the girls  ;D ) to see them in Seattle next month.  The first live MLB for each of us.  I'd love for them to be right in the thick of the playoff hunt.
