Has anyone watched House of Cards (the new Netflix produced version)? I am really enjoying it so far, Kevin Spacey is stellar in it.

I found the first episode or two quite tough to get through, but it really paid off after that and is very gripping.

Can't wait for the next season.

Has anyone watched any of the other Netflix produced shows? Orange is the New Black or Hemlock Grove? Any use?

Orange is the New Black.

Wife and I watched it in one day.

I'm 4 episodes in, it's pretty great.

Have either of you ever watched the original British series? I was talking to my Mom the other day and she was saying that the original was quite funny, which while this version has its moments I don't think anyone would say that it was humourous.

I've been watching it on Netflix.

Is it Season 4 or 5 that's incredibly bleak?  Maybe both are.  Still loved them but recall it being mentally taxing in a way.

Season 4, mostly. 5 has a mix of both (thinking of the scene where Draper dreams he strangles an ex-mistress)

I can't say enough about. One of my favorite shows on TV. Can't remember caring (for want of a better word) so strongly for the main character.

So, I finished Mad Men and The Walking Dead on Netflix. What should I watch next until the new seasons are added?

I've been told the following:
- Breaking Bad
- Sons of Anarchy
- Spartacus
- Southland
- Downtown Abbey
- American Horror Storey

I'd prefer something on Netflix. Though I know it's highly rated, I'm not really all that interested in Breaking Bad. However, I wasn't really interested in the The Walking Dead either and ended up loving it.

Breaking bad is good, it keeps you interested and wanting more, I'd give it a go if the other shows don't interest you that much, I haven't seen the others but have watching the first 3 seasons of breaking bad. Need to finish it off but am waiting til the final season is on Netflix.

Why aren't you interested in it?  That would be my only suggestion from that list.  I'm also enjoying The Shield right now.

It hasn't gotten the press that a lot of the other shows on your list have but I really think Southland was one of the more underrated shows of the last few years. It's more of a procedural than the shows you've watched but I thought it was really well done.

Not really sure to be honest. I should probably give it a shot.

Southland was amazing. So upset the way it ended.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy American Horror Story. IMO, Jessica Lange is the best actor on the best show going. Love, LOVE, LOVE her.

Spartacus is kind of cheesy, but fun. Lots of violence and sex, so, there's that. As for Breaking Bad . . . I just finished watching it, myself. I wasn't all that interested in it when it aired, so, I get where you're coming from - and the first season is pretty slow - but, it picks up and was a really good, well made show. Worth a watch.

I've seen the first season of Spartacus. I enjoyed it (after shutting off my brain) but I couldn't get into the second season at all. There's only so much spectacle of spurting blood I could watch without having an engaging story.

I enjoyed Rome much more than Spartacus.

Considering you mentioned Netflix, I'd recommend giving House of Cards a look. I watched the 1st 5 or 6 episodes on my flights this summer and quite enjoyed it.
