I understand the good husband thing Joe. I used to watch Once Upon a Time with my wife. I finally got the point where I just had to quit. The wife is now on her own for that one.

I can't really complain - there are only 2 shows that are on her list, Parenthood and Downton Abbey.

And... well... Downton Abbey may be the most boring show I've ever watched in my life. Actually - I found it really funny when they made fun of it on How I met your mother...

The last 3 seasons really, to me, have been awful.  The characters all seem like caricatures of themselves, doing over the top things that the writers think are representative of their characters but it comes off as so forced.  What I loved about the show was that it felt like you were watching some friends hanging out like you would with your friends.  Then they just completely lost the plot and it became less about the story and more about trying to force laughs out.  They have dragged that amazingly unfunny Robin-Patrice thing out so long it's beyond cringe-worthy.

The first 5 seasons are great, it's sad what it is now.  I honestly can't watch it, it bothers me when I do.

I completely agree with you - I think I was in denial the last 2 seasons - they'd have glimpses of the original soul of the show, and I'd try to convince myself that it wasn't as bad as it seems, but this season is just some kind of new awful.

This pretty much takes me back to grade 8.

SOA: Dramatic, Chibs is my fav.

Game of Thrones: Yum. I'm on book 1. Tons of characters.

The Newsroom: Right in the gut - gets my politicking going.

Suits: Eye candy and nice clothes. Love me some Louis Litt.

True Detective: Caught episode 1, I am in love.

Brooklyn 99: Great ensemble cast, good chemistry.

Watching Ancient Aliens right now.

It's hilarious. I can't count how many times I've heard "but according to ancient astronaut theorists" or "ancient astronaut theorists say " in the last 30 minutes.

I've now watched the first 8 episodes of Brookyn 99, and its pretty good.

It certainly seems, however,  that the Rosa Diaz actress has been given 4 seasons of parks and rec on DVD and been told to emulate the April Ludgate character.

So, True Detective was fantastic and more than a little disturbing, hats off and hopefully they didn't set the bar too high.

Finally finished season 3 of Game of Thrones. Jeez did they have to throw in so many surprises?? Can't wait for season 4.

I somehow got on to Red Wedding reaction videos on YouTube. Insane episode and watching people react to it brought it all back to me. I would of liked to have seen the look on my face when I watched it for the first time.

Loves me some Game of Thrones. Apparently this season, it's going to go down immediately. Can't wait.

its not the final season is it?
God no. They're on Book 3, which is divided into two seasons. Book 4 and 5 take place simultaneously so that'll probably be another two seasons. The author, George RR Martin, seems to think they'll have at least seven seasons, maybe more depending on book 6. I don't think they've figured everything out yet, considering Martin hasn't finished the series yet and he's a notoriously slow writer. There's also a chance HBO might use some of his other works to create a prequel type season to give Martin some more time to finish the series.

He also hinted at them potentially doing some of the "prequel" material he's written if he hasn't finished the 7th book by the time they get there. To his credit, Martin has told the people in charge of the show about the rest of the story that hasn't been written yet (or, at least, how he saw it at the time), just in case he's too far behind or he's unable to complete the books.

I sort of liked it from an overarching story sense and felt it was true to the characters. I mean, it wasn't especially good in terms of quality but the show itself has been pretty lousy for a couple seasons so I wasn't expecting much in that regard.

So that HIMYM finale was all kinds of terrible.

It would have been much better if it ended about 5 minutes earlier.

I hated how they spent an ENTIRE season on that wedding, then ended it within the first half of the next episode.  Then they spend a good portion of the season introducing the mother, then showing this perfect relationship in the finale, only to kill her off in about a 20 second span.  Spend multiple seasons on Barney/Robin, spend most of Season 9 going off/on with Ted and Robin and multiple times saying it's over with.  Not acknowledging that Robin is 1/1000th the character from the early seasons that Ted was into, ignoring all the character changes over 9 seasons.  Then that forced, awkward moment with the kids.

I wasn't even expecting much but it was still enough to annoy me.  I realize they taped that part in season 2, but come on guys, evolve the story.

Well, yeah, the season as a whole was kind of weak, because they kind of trapped themselves by agreeing to come back for season 9 when they'd filmed most of season 8 and set a date for the wedding they already revealed was where Ted meets the mother.

SPOILER ALERT

I didn't really mind that Barney and Robin didn't work out. That made sense to me, even though it kind of felt like they rushed to that point after dragging out the wedding. Other than that, the other issues could have been solved by the finale ending 5 minutes earlier. Like, for instance, this:
