Grigorenko's stock is falling in a lot of recent stuff. Man, would it be nice if he fell to us.

Link? Explain?

I'll feed you one and your on your own for the rest (and there's a few of them out there.)

Big, strong, skilled center? Yes please.

Sorry, at work right now. Did a google news search on Grigorenko and didn't find anything that stood out in particular.

Fine here's another;

http://thehockeywriters.com/mikhail-grigorenko-the-next-ones-2012-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-the-boom-bust-factor-looms/

"Come draft day, consistency and work ethic issues will remain Grigorenko?s demise but there are plenty of elite offensive NHL stars that battled through the similar criticisms during their draft year including Martin Havlat (1999) and Anze Kopitar (2005). TSN had Kopitar ranked fifth in their final draft rankings and Grigorenko, despite being uber-talented, could experience a similar fall."

Now I have to get back to work...

Lol sorry for asking?

I'm still pretty interested in the Leafs getting another first and trying to flip it up to the top 10-12, seems like a decent draft to try to make that kind of deal without costing a ton.

If Grigorenko is available at 5 and Burke passes I might cry. That would be the most excited I'd be for a draft pick since Rask fell to us. I've been pumping Gally most of this time but that's only because I didn't expect Grigo to be available.

I'm still not convinced Montreal passes on him. Even though they didn't hire Roy, that connection is still there for them.

While I know this doesn't exactly mean anything, pretty much every Habs fan is convinced that their scouts prefer Galchenyuk over Grigorenko by a considerable margin.

Doesn't Pronman have him as the second best player by a slight margin?

I believe he has him #2 but I don't recall what he said about the margin.

Pronman's write up from June 11...

Grigorenko is a clear top-two talent in the 2012 draft class. Based on scouts that I've talked to, my own observations and other observers throughout a good portion of the draft year, this seemed to be a shared thought. Grigorenko's on-ice work ethic problems have never been anything new, yet were never considered anything major enough to truly devalue him. It looked very accentuated towards the end of the season, however I'm skeptical of using that kind of sample to assess a player. It should be noted during an evaluation of him and used as a clear debit, but considering all the other tremendous qualities he possesses, I don't buy the argument Grigorenko isn't anything short of an elite prospect.

Also, for people who said he dogged it during the playoffs, Pronman points out that he was diagnosed with Mono at the time.

Yeah, I'm aware, but, you know, Habs fans and being right aren't exactly the best of friends. ;D

Watching him slide to #5 and not drafting him would feel like a punch in the stomach.

I'm not sure if there are any issues to be concerned about regarding the KHL with Grigorenko, but that aside yeah, if he's there and Galchenyuk's gone the Leafs really should take him.

I like that people are making such a big deal about his poor showing in the playoffs (10 points in 11 games), but nobody really talks about the fact that Yakupov, Faksa, and Gaunce all had their numbers drop in the playoffs as well.

Yup, and as far as I know none of them were playing with Mono.
