Any chance of the Sedins moving as a package?

If we could move Phaneuf +, which would obviously be a big plus, I might be interested.

We've got a good supporting cast, but we're missing some marquee players. I know they had a rough playoffs, but now might be the time to buy low-ish...

Thoughts (probably would never happen but...)?

Realistically, I could see Stephen Weiss signing as a UFA.  I just can't see a true #1 centreman being available.  The Leafs would look pretty good up-the-middle if Weiss - Kadri - Grabo / Bozak - McClement were the centres next year, though it doesn't address those who want a single dominant player at the position.

LA might be looking to trade carter or richards.  That would be a better option then Weiss.

I don't see why LA woudl be thinking about trading either of them, never mind looking to. They don't have any cap issues or players dues substantial raises. THey don't have young kids forcing their way on to the roster. They have no reason to move either of them unless they get an offer they can't refuse.

Also, as a centre, Carter isn't really a better option that Weiss - especially when the cost to acquire him is factored in.

If they don't win they will look at how much money they have tied up between 3 centers. Also Carter is a better goal scorer, and more physical then Weiss.

They've used Carter mainly on the wing, where he's best suited. He's not good enough on the draw and he's not a great puck distributer. He's a sniper. As an overall player, Carter's a little better than Weiss, but as a centre for the Leafs top line, he's not as good a fit, and the cost to acquire him is, as things stand right now, infinitely higher than it is acquire Weiss - assets vs no assets.
