I can never figure out what the heck ?s=19 means and it bugs me.

It?s code tacked onto the end of tweet urls on mobile. The board?s tweet plug-in ignores it so it appears after someone shares a tweet on mobile without clearing it before posting.

Oh.    :D

Totally not the answer I was expecting. LOL

Lol?

That's no joke man. I had hiccups for 3 days straight almost every 10 seconds. After a day and a half, every muscle in my chest and back felt like it'd been hit repeatedly by a hammer. I tried every known wives' tale known to man. I was desperate.

As soon as I get em, its a big long glass of water upside down, the further you bend down while drinking, the faster the hick-ups go.  For me its full proof.

I don't care for the person here, but I gotta admit this is cool Dude Perfect fun.

So, like, am I the only one in the world who kind of thinks that what the High Jumpers did was sort of stupid? Like, isn't the whole point of the Olympics that competition is good and that there's nothing wrong or shameful about doing your best and coming in second or even last? As far as I understand it, neither guy was hurt and they have dedicated their lives to high jumping so...go jump some more? Have a champion? The other guy gets silver which is still great?

Like, if the Basketball gold medal game finishes in a tie shouldn't they go play overtime? What am I missing here?

I'm more so baffled that the IOC or whatever didn't have some sort of tiebreaker system in place (although I assume ties in that competition are pretty rare?) How was the decision allowed to be made and then confirmed by the competitors right there on the spot like that? There was no one higher up that should have made that call?

With that said once I found out that those two guys are pretty close friends the old sap in me thought it was a pretty cool story.

To be fair, given that the competition continues until failure by one or both, they could alternatively just have a gentleman's agreement to both fail at a higher height. So this result arguably spares us the charade of that alternative outcome, which would be more outside the sprit of the competition, in my opinion.

I'll accept what we got as being equal parts heartwarming and shrewd.

As opposed to continuing the competition honestly?

I mean, I explicitly identified it as something that *could* happen that would violate the spirit of the competition even even more than stopping competing altogether a tie, which they shrewdly elected to do. I didn't say that those were the only two possible outcomes.

I don't disagree with you about the spirit of it. The IOC or track and field federation or whoever can make them continue to jump. But they can't make them continue to try, if they agree between them not to.

Yeah I phrased that badly, my bad. I'm just genuinely befuddled. I really thought trying your best to win was considered pretty good sportsmanship.

I'm sad when I refresh my browser and all the maple leaves (leafs?) on this site are dark blue.  :'(

Won't hockey please return soon so we can criticize marginal 4th liners again?

We could start talking about the election if you like.

Ok, I'll start with a Nik-style classice conversation starting hot take: I hope that, regardless of the outcome, this election leads to good governance and a successful future for the country.

We completely forgot to discuss the Olympics. In the famous words of a thankfully long-gone poster: "What a spectacle!"

We should start the Good Governance Party.

I suggest a solid beige for our colours.

VOTE GGP!!!
