Mitch is tied for 8th with 222! This is just missing his final two games played from this past season (there were two more points to be had for a total of 224). For someone all the pundits kept claiming was too small for the NHL, he's doing more than fine.

Matthews is currently tied for 14th with 205 pts, but only 212 GP so far (pro-rates to 231pts over 239 games, which would bump him to 5th) and is already 2nd in even strength goals behind Ovechkin (his 86 goals would pro-rate to 96.9 ev-goals, which ties with Ovi's 97). I think he's going to exceed that current pace though if his start isn't marred with injury.

Tavares is 15th with 198 (lol Islanders). You can clearly see why Tavares wanted to play here.

Nylander is quite a ways down, but generally surrounded by and still exceeding very good players. Contextually, Willy's working uphill as his first 20 something games were part of the tank drive, and his last 50 something were this past season's fun results.

The importance of Nylander:

Even when some stars are off or injured, others are still kicking around to make up part of the difference. What the Leafs seemed to understand, too, even if they would have preferred to keep the final number on Nylander?s second deal down, is how special Nylander?s skill set is, how difficult those abilities are to find if you don?t have them and how, with his 24th birthday still lying ahead in May, Nylander is still so young in his career, still getting better all the time.
