Bad news for the Wpg Jets--- D Toby Enstrom has a broken collarbone. Out indefinitely #nhl

Bad news for the Jets. They lose who in my humble opinion is their best player... and dagnammit, he's in my fantasy pool.  >:(

That is bad news, he hasn't got going yet either, offensively that is. I had him in my Wpg Sun pool but dropped him due to his low production value a couple of weeks ago.

Wishing him a speedy and safe recovery.

edit: I wonder if the Jets would be interested in one of the Leafs extra Dmen? Although, they don't really have anyone I could see helping the Leafs, that they would actually trade away.

The rumour mill has Kane being unhappy and wanting out.  Could Leafs put something forward to pry him out of the Peg?

Little would make LHF and myself very happy campers!

I think it would take overpaying quite a bit, which I wouldn't want the Leafs to do, may a bit of overpayment, but not a lot.

A long while ago a floated a Schenn for Kane deal... Back then, a few people thought they were of equal value. I wonder if that holds true today.

I would make that deal Floyd as I don't see that much upside in Schenn and with his slow speed he may not be better than a 3rd pairing NHL'er.

Jets may be down another Dman, Randy Jones just took a shot off the foot and left the ice in pain and having a hard time getting there (falling down).

They're sure trying to soak up every penny they can from the fans while the team is still in it's honeymoon stage. ALong with this a 20$ silver dollar has been released along with a commemorative 25 cent coin, and also a postage stamp.

I wish the media would stop equating these jets to the old jets, they are different franchises.

A caps beat reporter posted:

No one in the #Caps room has played against the Winnipeg Jets, except Roman Hamrlik who comes into tonight w/ 32 career gms against them.

But most of them, if not all, have played against the team that they are playing tonight.

Drive me nuts as well. I mean, not only have pretty much all the Caps played the Thrashers before the moved to Winnipeg, almost all of them have played the Coyotes, who are the former Jets. It's one thing to say they haven't played an NHL game in Winnipeg, but, equating these Jets to the team that is now the Coyotes is just not right.

Well the reporter didn't say anything wrong did he - "no one has played against the Winnipeg Jets" - I assume that means the old and the new incarnation.  It just sounds like him saying Roman Hamrlik is the only one to play against the Winnipeg Jets franchise, not that having played against the old franchise has any bearing on the game or anything.

I don't see them equating the two right there.  If he had posted their record maybe.

I don't get why you guys are hung up on that.  For Winnipeg Jets fans, it may as well be the same franchise.

Why does it really matter if you can't trace the ownership continuity back to the Jets before they left originally?

Because they're two different franchises. There's not much more to it than that.

I get that, I'm just not sure why it matters.

I'm not sure how to explain it. It matters, I suppose, in the same way that the NHL's leading scorer wasn't Gerard Depardieu or how the sun doesn't revolve around the earth. Some things are true and some aren't.

But nothing untrue was said - Roman Hamrlik is the only player to have played against the Winnipeg Jets before on Washington.

I'm responding to SP's confusion over the two different franchises issue.
