I'm just going for good hockey.  Finland, Sweden, or USA I'm ok with any of them.  There is a pretty reasonable chance that the Leafs next top prospect is playing on one of these teams.
 
This was the only game I watched in the tournament, so I didn't care much about it to begin with, but I'd like Finland to win. If Canada doesn't win, I'd like the team that knocked them out to end up being the best team, and my Finnish heritage makes me partial to them as well.

I was thinking the same when the Player of the Game awards were given out to Marner and Laine, that both might be Leaf property by July.

As disappointed as I am with the Canadian overall performance and result, the tournament has definitely more than reassured me that the 2016 draft is far more than just Auston Matthews and a bunch of other guys.  There are some really, really good players to be had, better than I had thought.

Pastrnak was added to the Czech roster after their 1st game.

the Finish guy should of gotten 5 mins.

Agree on all counts, though I wouldn't say the goaltending was too terrible, but it certainly wasn't Team Canada's strongest point, the way goaltending used to be in previous tourneys.

Lump that in with the fact that this team was never really in it from the start of these World Juniors -- with the exception of some players who actually showed up to play -- add in a system that never really meshed itself on the team -- defencemen somehow unable to pass up the middle (using the boards too often), players not playing their usual game with being physical and going to the net more, and a powerplay that seemed to have held itself back -- well, what results could we have expected?

Everyone else (that we played) was just better than us.
 
For the first time in 18 years in a WJHC, Team Canada will not be challenging for a medal.

The dynamic US offence, led by Austin Matthews' hat-trick dubbed the Czech Republic 7-0 in their Quarter-Final game.

Team USA will now play Team Russia in the Semi-Finals.


In other action, Finland on the heels of their 6-5 win over Team Canada in the Quarter-Finals, will meet Team Sweden for the Semis.

Those dastardly teenagers were just too immature for excellent coach Lowry.

Stupid tournament couldn't have completed their action while I was still on holidays from work.

Anyway, yeah with Nylander out I figured the Swedes would have a tough time there. That's quite the change in pace though from the CAN-FIN game.

Yeah, well, if Team Canada had Connor McDavid then we could have pointed out that we'd have won if Connor McDavid didn't have a shoulder injury.

Kapanen with two apples in this one, basically the Swedes shut down Finland's top unit and Kapanen set-up both Finnish goals.
