Victor Hedman - 5 year extension at 4 million/year?
48 points in 173 NHL games.  2 points in 22 games this year.  Insanity.

That's an awful lot of money for potential. He's been decent defensively, but, like, 2nd pairing decent, not $4M per decent.

That's the thing for me.  He was supposed to be a two-way player.  He's not bad defensive but he's hardly spectacular and if he doesn't provide offense that's a big knock on his overall play.

I didn't expect Boudreau out of work for long. Good hire by Anaheim I think. I also think Carlyle is a quality coach too... Hope he lands on his feet soon.

I don't think Boudreau is a bad NHL coach. I like him. Neither obviously is Carlyle.

Given Anaheim's financial situation with just extending Carlyle this summer, it's tougher for them to eat his deal. But it would be worse to eat millions in losses doing nothing. The talent on paper was underachieving.

I suspect this would put any notion of dumping Bobby Ryan any time soon on hold.

The Bruins just re-signed Krejci... for LESS than he was making?

His cap hit this year was 3.75M, he re-signed for $3.58M.

I haven't dug too deep into it yet, but that seems strange to me for a 25 year old who probably has his best years ahead of him.

Dreger tweeted the cap hit is $5.25M, so, either there's a typo somewhere or Dreger's passing some bad info he hasn't corrected yet.

The numbers I saw posted by MacKenzie (I think) were $5.25M for 3 years. Limited no-trade in years 2 and 3.

Glad the Habs ended Anaheims losing streak and not us!

Yeah, that was the only silver lining last night.  When the Leafs lose I want the Habs to lose too.  ;)

Someones wrong.

TSN clearly says $10.75M over 3 years.

I'm guessing a typo on TSN's part there. 3 years at $5.25M is $15.75M - and, apparently, that's what's being reported in Boston as well.
