@baseballexis Travis Snider reached base twice today in extended. One long double, stolen base & slid thrice. Ripped his pants open, but wrist seems fine.
What a buffoon.
What a buffoon.

Hopefully keeps trending upwards as he's hit very well in his limited time in the 2 spot.

Not to dwell on the obvious but if it wasn't the aforementioned sliding that was the culprit but rather Snider's imagined girth I'm guessing they'd have gone with "burst at the seams" as opposed to "ripped".

Nik? said:I guess that's a good thing. I wonder though if signing Smoral, who was thought to be a tough sign, means they're going to lowball someone else.
Nik? said:I have to be honest, I really like the idea that not only is Snider out of shape but that he's wearing improperly sized pants to boot.

Improperly sized, inferior quality pants.

Well, they "punted" a lot of their picks on day 2, in that they took college seniors who are likely to sign for well below slot (a strategy a number of other teams used as well, since the "budget" is based on the first 10 rounds). For instance, their 4th round pick accepted a $5K bonus. The Jays are also likely to go over their budget up to just below the amount where they'd lose a draft pick.
Nik? said:So, in other words, the CBA's attempt to make sure that players are drafted on the basis of talent rather than signability has been a raging success.
