2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Guerrero has apparently given up on his comeback bid. We won't be seeing him in a Blue Jays uniform.

Ken Rosenthal says Blue Jays released him at his own request.  "He wanted an opportunity at the major-league level.  Not retiring."

We'll see about that. He may not want to retire, but, he also might not be able to find a spot on an MLB roster.

Was he among the worst DH's in the league last year or something? His numbers look pretty decent. Is it that he has no versatility in fielding should the teams need it?

If the guy can hit, well I would've said bring him up and see what he can do .

His performance last season was entirely forgettable. Seriously. He had a WAR of 0.0, and OPS+ of 100, wasn't used in the field at all, etc. He was, essentially, a replacement level player. The weapons he once really had going for him are either gone or well into the process of going. He hit well in the minors in his brief stint the Jays organization up until he hit AAA. 2 of the past 3 seasons, the numbers he's put up made him a below average DH. He might find a bench role somewhere, but he's kidding himself if he thinks anyone is going to consider him for an every day job.

Drabek's been hit or miss, but the rotation was too thin to have 2 of 5 starters go down with injury.  Interleague play destroys another Jays season.

So, should the Jays just go ahead and book Ricky Romero an appointment with Dr. James Andrews for next week, or should they wait until he actually pitches today?

I was at the Jays game Friday night and Tyler Seguin was in our section completely hammered.

I wasn't completely sure if it was him at first because he was so drunk and oddly, kinda short.  He's listed as 6'1" but there's no way...I'd guess 5' 10", 5"11" max...so weird.

I saw him in the lobby area stumbling and slurring and snapped a couple pictures.  He had 3 girls pretty well hanging off him and at first I was wondering why does this average looking, short, drunk kid have 3 girls hanging off him.  Then I was like "wtf, is that Seguin?". I asked one of his buddies and he admitted it was him.  He looked so pissed at me when I took the photos, and I actually felt horrible...it was the dirtiest look, I can tell it pretty well ruined his fun so I felt bad.

Anyway, I guess another guy at the game took some photos and posted them on hockeyfights, here's the link.  Funny little thing there about him chanting "Thank you Kessel"
