2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Awesome that the guy in the stands has a Wakamatsu jersey. I mean, unless you're related...

Well, now that it's official . . . of the 27 runs he's allowed, 18 came in 3 starts. 22 came in 4 starts. In his other 8 starts, he's allowed a total of 5 runs. He's making Seattle look silly for giving him up for League.

First big league pitcher with three shutouts this year.  Nice!

Of note - the team record for shutouts in a single season is 5. Morrow has 2/3 of the season left to get there.

Agreed. I Think need to make a trade or two to make a push regardless. Until AA pulls something off I'm not thinking playoffs.

The whole division seems to be working that way right now. There's definitely an opportunity to make some noise this season, and the team needs to seize it if possible. I'm confident that AA is working all sorts of angles right now, but, as we know, he's not going to blow his wad just to try to make the playoffs.

From a championship calibre team? No, probably not. I mean, the right player is probably enough to get them into the playoffs, but, there are a couple pieces they need in order to be a real contender. I'm confident AA will do something this summer (he has pretty much every summer since he took over), but it will be a long-term move, not a bid for the playoffs type move.

Adam Lind was demoted because he was fat and lazy...

He must have switched to the Travis Snider diet.

But seriously, how does a game with a bunch of fat guys who can barely run end up passing Adam Lind by?  I can only imagine how lousy his conditioning must have been for this to be the key factor in his demotion.

Things seemed to go south for Lind's hitting when he was tossed around the field from LF to DH and then to 1B.  DH was where he won the silver slugger, so put him back there. With EE doing relatively well (I don't know the stats) at 1B why would they not him there and bring Lind back as the full time DH, and let him focus on that role with maybe a few games a month in LF.

Smells a little bit more like he's just not continuing it with the Jays...

My guess is he's going to go and find a better deal somewhere else.
