2012 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

Gose is not in the lineup.

CC isn't a good way to start his career.  He can't hit lefties and going up against one of the better ones isn't a good way to introduce him to the Majors.

Pitch 6 is called strike 3 to Encarnacion to end the 6th.

Good grief.

Haha, Wilner with a rare gem;

Edwin Encarnacion flies out to RF for 2nd out of top4, is now headed back to the clubhouse to be bubble-wrapped. #Bluejays #jays

That's kind of the crazy thing about all this - just about everyone that is on the DL right now is a longer-term piece. The short-term guys have been relatively healthy, so far.

Yeah, so far.  :-\

Do the jays even have any attractive short term pieces?

Oliver maybe?

Johnson hasn't been very good, EE is locked up now, who else?

Is Hech a given for next year? If so, yeah, Johnson could be gone. - Though I'm still not sure who plays 2B or SS... Hech or Escobar?

There aren't a lot of options available at 2B, so Johnson may be more valuable that we think. Other than that, Oliver, Cordero, etc. Veteran bullpen arms always have value to contending teams. Davis would have some value as well.

The really bad news is that teams like Boston had their injury crises in the first half, and are now getting guys back for the stretch run. The Jays seem to be doing the opposite.

Luckily Lowrie is just a bruise.

It looks like the Jays will get swept away in this series. I REALLY hope they rebound in Boston, or this could be the start of a very Leaflike collapse right out of the playoff hunt. :(

Rasmus has 15 HR so far this season, and 49 RBI.  He had 14 HR and 53 RBI all of last season.  Could hit 30 HR at this point.
HGH is a helluva drug.

/snip/

Concerning would be his performance against the AL East at this point, but he hasn't really faced them since he started hitting.

I thought about this post after the past few games with the Yankees. After that last pop out, Rasmus is now 0-11 in the series. Not that the rest of the Jays have been great either (Lawrie 0-10, etc.), but like I said, this was what I thought of.

On to Boston.

Sorry but I haven't been following the Jays very closely like I did when I was in high school (90s), but aside from spending $$, it seems we can never get a top performing team.  On paper, when we had Wells etc, it seemed like we would challenge for at least a wild card.  Look at Tampa Bay, they have a lower payroll and were able to make the playoffs.  Why can't we be like them?

Also, what's up with all these pitchers getting arm injuries?  Is the pitching coach trying to change their delivery or arm motion that it's now straining their arms?

Again, I haven't been following in depth lately so don't crucify me because of my comments.  Just from a big picture kinda view, it just seems like we're just not improving even though we have all this youth and have been stockpiling players.
