2015 World Championship

Team Canada routs Team Germany 10-0 on Taylor Hall's hat-trick.

Other contributors in scoring for Canada were  Eakin with 2, Ekblad, Giroux, Ennis, Crosby, Duchene.

"I think the coaching staff has done a really good job of preparing us for what it?s like on this big ice and giving us tips and pointers on what the successful teams do over here," said Hall. "We?re trying to incorporate that and I think we?re doing a good job."

"It was good," Crosby said. "I thought we were better today than we were last game. So that?s the most important thing that you gotta get better with every game. It should happen as the guys get more comfortable with the ice."

Team Canada is 2-0 in the win column.  Next game is Monday against the Czech Republic.

Gardner a scratch for the U.S. today, not sure if he is hurt.

I know that I'm walking into all the "it's because he sucks" replies that I'm about to receive, but the US has used him as a 7th defencemen up to this point, and I remember him receiving similar usage at last years Worlds too. Like their defence corps kind of sucks too. He's their 3rd best defenceman behind Jones and Faulk.

I'm not surprised if they think better of Torey Krug and John Moore.  However, Mike Reilly, Connor Murphy, and Zach Redmond?  He must be hurt.

Krug I could somewhat understand, Moore? Nah. He has 40 points in 230 NHL games. He's a competent bottom pairing guy.

It's weird because he's not even listed on the "line chart" provided by USA Hockey: http://assets.ngin.com/attachments/document/0075/1665/Line_Chart-USA-RUS.May4.2015.pdf

It lists players "not dressed" but doesn't list Gardiner.  That chart is linked to in the Gameday preview from USA Hockey here.

They have Redmond listed twice, once as the 7th defenceman and the next under not dressed. I would imagine that Redmond took Gardiner's spot in the line-up and they just didn't update the form correctly.

Connor Murphy is a better player than John Moore.  Moore is a turnover machine and Murphy really plays decent defence with a physical edge.

Must be injured.

Obviously it doesn't need to be said but Tyler Seguin can do some pretty impressive stuff on the ice.

Canada's last preliminary round matchup will be against Austria on Tuesday.

Team Canada goes for Gold!!!

Team Canada defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 to advance to the Gold Medal match against Team Russia Sunday.

Behind Mike Smith's stellar goaltending, the Canadians were able to stave off the Czech offensive thrust by getting goals from Taylor Hall and Jason Spezza.

?Smitty was unbelievable,? said Canadian defenceman Tyson Barrie. ?The Czechs came out firing the first 10 minutes there. He kinda kept us in it.
