Read that link and was surprised Kovalchuk lead the group off the ice.  He's never been one to walkout on things.

If Kovalchuk does in fact return to the NHL, my hope is he gets booed unmercifully in Canada.  Such a big puke!

There is no excuse whatsoever for the Russian players behaviour. No matter how disappointing the loss, no matter what event it is.

This just reeks of disrespect and sore losing.

Shame on Kovalchuk to lead the charge.

Applause to Ovie & Malkin for staying.

(Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko):"I believe that our hockey players, who left the ice early, did the wrong thing," Mutko said. "The defeat must be accepted with dignity and the winner must be treated with respect. In my opinion, the management of the national team and the president of the Russian Hockey Federation should have prevented the incident."

Among the Russian players, who remained on the ice and did not walk away were Alexander Ovechkin, Yevgeny Malkin, Viktor Tikhonov and Dmitry Kulikov.

(IIHF President Rene)Fasel saw Ovechkin and Malkin tried to stop the rest of the players rushing to the locker rooms...
