I guess Komarov is good defensively and for penalty killing but I haven't been too impressed with him this season.  He's missed a lot of golden opportunities offensively.  With him out it will be interesting to see the young guys step into his role.  I have a feeling they will do a better job at it overall.

Same thing with Martin.  However with him I feel even more strongly that the young guys are better.
Komarov is good on the pk. I don't find him all that good 5 v 5 in the D zone. I see him failing to clear the puck quite a bit. In the O zone, he's flat out terrible. I think Johnsson and Leivo get into the lineup tomorrow....well I hope.

Alot of this year Komarov has been on his off wing and it's been noticeable.  Probably doesn't help that when he's on the RW he also is getting lots of terrible passes/rims/dumps from our exceptional right d-men.
He's making the same mistakes on the left side so I guess the left D can't pass either? He hasn't been very good in the position of need this year other then the pk. I don't see him coming back next year.

Chris Johnson said he was hearing about 2 weeks for Komarov. Zaitsev's been skating the past couple of days so for him it might just be about regaining the strength he's likely been expelling from his body the past week.

If Johnsson continues to pan out he will be a steal from Round 7. And after last night there is no reason to think he won't, but hey things can go south sometimes.

When people think of the "new" Leafs they think of the big 3, but with the recent addition of Kasperi "the Flash" Kapenen and Johnsson you have thing perhaps the big 5.
The accent of Dermott continues and Rielly just keeps getting better and better.
I wouldn't mind seeing more of Holl at some point.
Exciting times my friends, exciting times.  :)

maybe Lou meant it when he said he liked his team as it is for this year...overall a good year..with some glaring occasional defensive lapses...hope for a first round match up with Tampa...and see how the playoff run goes...

Also, 7 shots in his 2nd ever NHL game is pretty remarkable for Johnsson.  Is this Auston Matthews 2.0?
Pump the brakes there prince, you don't find Auston Matthews type players in round 7. If he can turn into a consistent 15-20 goal guy I'd be estatic.

Lets say the sky is the limit, shoot high and thank god we may have a great #7 steal. Always tempered with the other side of the coin.

Where did Forgsburg and Datsyuk go? In the 5th or 6th rounds?

You're not referencing Peter Forsberg I hope (round 1!)

Zetterberg was the other guy, 7th round.  Datsyuk was a 6th rounder.

Two guys largely responsible for Detroit being seen as draft superstars.

Or we could wait until his second NHL goal to start comparing him to Hall of Famers.

Yes that is who I meant, thanks, what steals they were!

Imagine when Matthews came back we just swapped Plekanec out for him with those lines. Or Put Matthews where Nylander is and Nylander with Leivo and Kapanen.

Babs loves having lots of centres so we'd probably see Plekanec-Nylander-Kapanen with Leivo sitting.  (PK forwards: Brown-Hyman-Plek-Kappy)  Then after a PK you'd send out Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander BAAAAAMM

All currently injured players (34, 22, 47, 31), who participated in the practice today, have been ruled out for tomorrow's match with Tampa.
