2017-2018 Toronto Raptors Thread: "O.G...Change Is In the Air!"

Well, they"ll have another shot at it for Game 2 Thursday night.  Raptors better win one at home at least before heading out for Games 3 & 4 at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavs definitely stole this one, and it wasn't supposed to end this way.  It's a case of the Raptors not doing what they had to do to get it done rather then the Cavs getting lucky:

?I think, considering the circumstances, we definitely stole one,? said Cavaliers head coach Ty Lue. ?I don?t think we played our best game and I think they know that as well.?

I know Casey is flawed, but surely that 4th quarter is largely on the players?

I think there's enough blame to go around and you can't fire the players.

It strikes me that the raptors may be the senators of the NBA.

Keep in mind I know next to nothing about the basketball.

By all accounts this is their best chance to get to the finals and they're crapping the bed again. Guess it's time to blow it up?  They aren't done yet but they show no signs of this going past 4 games after this effort in a must win tonight.

We can kiss the Raptors goodbye.  Hear that Mr. Marchand?  Oh wait, this isn't hockey, it's basketball...

..make that LeBron James basketball. Big #23 beat the Raptors in the last few seconds remaining in regulation with the final score, a heartbreaking 105-103 in favour of the Cavs Saturday night.

The Raptors did everything right throwing whatever they could at the Cavs but the kitchen sink.  They contained LeBron or think they did, but, alas, the best player in the game will always find a flaw and run with it, which is exactly what Monsieur James did.

Over.  Finit.  Cavs now lead 3 games to 0. It will take a miracle and a half for Toronto to prevent elimination so soon, so fast.  Better still, it will take a perfect game on all fronts to even eke out a win, otherwise consider it kaput.

What's really wrong with the Toronto Raptors.  Hint:  It starts with the "D...

The Raptors? defence was better than it?s been for most of the series on Saturday night. And DeRozan showed flashes of defensive prowess. Matched a couple of times against James, DeRozan more than once played some active, physical, heady defence. But showing those flashes actually made his overall defensive performance even more of a disappointment. Those flashing only confirmed that DeRozan clearly has the all the tools to do the job. It?s something else that?s lacking. Call it desire, interest, passion. Defence has never been DeRozan?s thing. And it?s killing his team.

The Raptors, who ranked fifth in the league in defensive rating during the regular season, came into Saturday?s Game 3 ranked 13th of 16 playoff teams in the same stat. It?s a recurring pattern. Five straight years the Raptors have been in the playoffs. And five straight years their defence has regressed in the post-season. Thursday?s thud of a Game 2 loss, wherein the Cavaliers shot 60 per cent from the field and committed a mere three turnovers, was a particularly egregious case in point.

I can't believe somebody actually thought that this kind of humour would work anywhere but in Canada.

MLSE couldn't have waited 1 more day to just let the city focus on Dubas?

There's literally nothing the Raptors could do that would overshadow the Leafs hiring a new GM. If anything they might have done this today to bury the Casey story.

That's a good point , I could care less about the NBA but I didn't want my Overdrive listening experience tonight clouded with any Raptors talk.

It's headlined by hockey dudes, so I think we're safe. Might get a call in from Sam Mitchell during the slow hour.
