Lamoriello may be old school, but he understands the realities of today?s NHL
In Toronto on Lamoriello?s watch, only Auston Matthews went straight to the NHL as an 18-year-old. Mitch Marner, arguably the most talented Leaf, went back to junior following his draft year and a superb Toronto training camp.
But here the Islanders are, with a 77-year-old GM and four teens on the pro rosters. Managing all those kids calls for some adjustments.
?We?ll have our strength coach go to Bridgeport a bit more to work with them, our skating person in one spot more,? Lamoriello said. ?Communication, especially with the young players in Bridgeport, is a daily thing with Chris (Lamoriello, Sound Tigers GM). And the environment around them is very important ? that?s why we have veterans like (Steve) Bernier, like (Colin) McDonald, like Hickey and now (Andrew) Ladd will be there, too. It?s no different than sending them off to college. You want them to be surrounded by the right people.?
It's funny, I used to have so much excitement for a Leaf game no matter the opponent or how bad the Leaf team was. Now I find myself struggling to finish a recorded game that I can fast forward through at will. The game is exponentially worse.Nik Bethune said:That post was brought to you by watching the Rockets/Clippers game last night and realizing I hadn't enjoyed any Hockey game as much as that regular season Basketball game since maybe Matthews' debut or a 2014 Olympics game.

Yeah. What is Net PP% and Net PK%? There's absolutely not explanation as to how they're different from standard PP% and PK% (though, clearly there are), and I can't figure out what other stat they're co-opting.
CarltonTheBear said:Oh my god I didn't even get to the team section yet. WHAT ARE THOSE?!
Nevermind their helpful terminology section cleared that up entirely:
Net PP%: Power Play Net Pct
PP%: Power Play Percentage
