5 years, $45mil after just 55 games in the NHL. Times are changing.

Yeah, but if those games plus his previous couple seasons in the KHL are indications of anything...

I don't know if he makes it past this contract without a trade demand.

Weird I thought Dorion was trying to collect all the Browns

Seems cheap for Hughes no?

It's the 16th highest cap hit for a Defenseman in the league coming off a season where I think a lot of people saw him maybe be exposed a little bit as a bit of a one-way defenseman. Obviously with a contract for a young guy you're investing in his growth but I think that sort of downturn is the reason you get him for a little bit less than the Heiskanen-Chabot-Makar deals.

Also, he was an RFA that couldn't be offer sheeted.

Sure although I have my doubts that that's a major source of leverage.

Any subsequent offer to Pettersson from Vancouver is going to have to top that 8.8M QO one year before free agency

The Pitlicks are a household name in Minnesota

Pretty solid deal for Florida and Barkov.

Different cap scenario but yeah, that's one I'd take heads up against our big three contracts.

Given his age and the season's you're paying for the only comparable deal is really the Tavares one and it's more or less the same. There's an upside for teams negotiating deals in a stagnant cap that make direct comparisons a little unfair.

Couple mediocre depth pieces for a draft failure. Classic Benning

I actually have no idea who this is.

Some of these contracts for young defencemen are quite something. McAvoy's is deserved, based on the way the market has gone, but, it's still crazy to think about.
