$7 mil cap hit is problematic - even if 50% is retained. Then you have to pay someone to take Kerfoot's $3.5 mil cap hit. You give up all those assets and how much more does an aged, slow JVR bring you than a versatile Kerfoot who tends to step it up in the playoffs? I can see why it was unlikely.
