Merry Christmas to all my trans Atlantic Leafs brethren.

I hope all who celebrate it have a pleasant break with family.

And I look forward to Santa bringing a Presidents trophy and Stanley Cup run in to the Leafs.

That is enough money to acquire both Schenn brothers as well.  However Brayden is signed looooong term, so that is probably a no go.

Keep in mind over half of that $14mil LTIR figure comes from Rielly, whose return is basically imminent at this point. Assuming Muzzin is the only significant player still on LTIR come trade deadline (and more importantly the only one expected to remain on LTIR for the remainder of the season) their actual cap space to acquire a rental won't be anything near that.

That, and to use LTIR space for a trade, you don?t get to prorate the cap hit, either. Better than no space, but still quite limited.

I see.  So only one Schenn brother then.

Is ~4 million a reasonable estimate for the space they have assuming (1) Muzzin is out until the playoffs, and (2) they want a ~22 man roster?

In other words, enough for a 7 million player, 50% retained.

Hoefenmayer plays the Left side. Currently on a blitz with the Marlies.  He was the OHL player of the year when he graduated. Got an article in the Athletic today. Read it. This guy is the real deal.  Our defence is starting to shore up.

Seen him play live. He looks like the real deal. Hope he can keep progressing.
