Interesting post on Montour ? it seems like he is quite unpredictable and likely to be overpaid. Possible bust-in-waiting. Article makes me hope the leafs steer clear.

Forsling got 3rd place in the Conn Smythe votes and the others in Florida's top 4 seem to be better defensively. I'm not convinced Montour is the best bang for their buck nor as good a fit for what they need. One thing he experienced was a transition from a high scoring team that the Panthers were, like the Leafs are now, to the more defensive team that won a Cup.
Another opinion on UFA dmen from that site

A lot of teams are rumoured to be lining up for these top 4 UFA dmen.
Most of their current teams seem to be actively trying to re-sign them.
Usually, some do which means all the other teams are competing for the fewer who are left.
Here's the 7 top 4 RH UFA dmen currently available
Alexandre Carrier - from PQ, not as renown as those below so should be cheaper.
Brandon Montour - not great defensively, from Ontario. will be pricey
Tyler Myers - rumoured to be close to re-signing in Vancouver, offseason home in Kelowna
Brett Pesce - looking for top buck, might want to stay in US
Matt Roy - might want his kids schooled in US - might be best & age talent fit
Chris Tanev - 34 from Ontario, great defensively for how long ..
Sean Walker (in terms of ice time, he might be a #5) - good PKer, 25pts/season from Ontario
Then there is Cole, age 35 or Zadorov who are LH dmen that have played the right side.
and Brady Skjei, Carolina UFA LH dman who I guess would push McCabe to the RHS
Seems pointless to look too closely at these guys until June 30th as some will re-sign.
