Dave Nonis points out the #leafs core players on long-term deals don't have no-move clauses. "They're movable."

I guess Clarkson isn't considered a core player, as his contract has a no-movement clause in it.

Also all the other Leafs that are signed for 4 or more years have limited/modified no-trade clauses (Kessel, Phaneuf, Lupul, JVR, Bozak).

He has a modified NTC and a NMC.

Yeah, sorry I meant to add his name to the second sentence as well. Point is all of our players on long-term deals have some control over their destination if they hit the market.

That, and the way they answered questions about him - very brief and non-committal - speaks volumes to me about his lack of future behind the Leafs' bench.

If they gave him the dreaded "vote of confidence" then we could be having this exact same conversation. I'm leaning more towards them firing him now, but I still think it wouldn't have happened if Nonis was running the show. So we can both be right.

Whatever you need to believe while you're buying me my victory beer is fine with me.

Its clear as day the Leafs management team / hierarchy wasn't quite convoluted enough. What can possibly go wrong now?

That's good. I was just lamenting that over the entirety of my life as a Leafs fan the one thing I really missed from management was the constant use of meaningless corporate buzzspeak.

Like truculence.

Leafs keep Carlyle as coach, decide to do a re-build and trade Kessel, Kadri, Van Reimsdyk etc., decide to trade 1st round pick to add veteran experience thus contradicting the re-build mentality.  The 1st round pick ends up #1 overall pick who goes on to score 50 goals for another team.

The titles are confusing but from what I heard today, shanahan has Burke's old job and Nonis has his old job.

Yeah, that seems about right. Nonis even did a lot of the day-to-day work that a GM would have probably done when Burke was on board.

Agreed.  If the dork had watched the PC carefully and listened to the words being spoken by Tim Leiweke he would have realized that for now Nonis is still GM of the team and will now report directly to Shanahan.  There is also a review period in which BS will assess the entire organization top to bottom, then decide who stays and who goes.  I heard nothing to the extent that Nonis' duties have been reduced although that is a possible outcome after the review by BS.

This is once again another case of a really bad media person sensationalizing information using baseless and non existent facts.

P.S.  Someone can always rough him up near the photocopier!

Quit talking about the past. We're trying to concentrate on the future here... ;)

I'm not liking how Shanahan's name can be shortened to BS.

The new president of the Leafs is BS.

Kelly is just like Feschuk in that they cherry pick quotes or make them up completely and build stories around them.  It's always negative and caustic.

Guarantee both got beat up a lot, and probably still do (or should be).
