I say the hell with NM contracts. Basically held hostage by the player. We sign him for more it's a mistake, losing him for nothing is a mistake. Can't win.

And yet he's tied for the pts lead with the Leafs....amazing considering he's left.

I didn't expect OEL to lay any hits, but he has. And of course solid positionally, good skater, can get a shot to the net.

I guess you didn't watch him in the playoffs last year? He's adjusted his game like older players need to do.

Yes but you can account that to a slow start by most of them. 7 points in 8 games for a guy making almost 11 million I think most on here expect more. There's tons of guys in the league in the same boat though to be fair. -5 is not good. Him and 34 have been brutal last 2 games. I think as Leaf fans again we just expect more. The PP has been a disgrace accounting for the point totals being down but that play just leaves you scratching your head and it brought back memories of his play in the playoffs against these same B's when he had an open net and took it behind the net.
 
Most goals are off the rush/off broken plays

So that’s why I kind of hate how some of the Leafs prioritize taking a bajillion perimeter passes to hunt for a clean look.

7 pts in 8 games for a guy making 11.5. Matthews makes 13.5....and you said it, last 2 games where no one has been good. Breathe, it's a long season.
