Nash skated in backwards, body first, which should've been offside, no?
Not if you're in full control of the puck
Really? I thought if a player tries to avoid a hit and say puts his skates over the line but keeps the puck behind the line, and then brings the puck in he puts himself offside. I'm relatively positive I've seen a player put himself offside more then a few times in many years of watching hockey.
Are you telling me I have false memories :'(?
Usually in that case it's his teammates who go offside, but if he's trying to avoid a hit, maybe he doesn't have full control of the puck?
From the official NHL rules:
However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered ?off-side,? provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line.
