So now what to do with Scrivens, think he still goes down much the same way Reimer did last year until he came back for good.  He has done nothing but been effective at every level, much like Reims.

Yeah well... its been one game. Against the NHLs worst team. I wouldnt "start building statues" just yet.

I know I can't prove it but we lose this game tonight if Gustavsson was in there.
No they still win but 4-3 with a softie thrown in.

I say they either would have won 7-2 (Steckel with a hat trick) or lost 4-2 (Brown with 2).

We can be all kinds of happy about this start.  We are 9-3-1, we have played 9 games in the last 15 days 7 of which are on the road.  We have had our fair share of injuries and we sit at the top of the NHL right now.  We are a tired team but one that seems to be able to reach down and come out on top.

I haven't been able to see many Leaf games this year (per usual) but as I watched this one I was surprised how bad Komisarek was on basic hockey skills. Especially his passing.  He seems to not have much hockey sense either but wears the A.

Komisarek has to be moved/benched and Franson brought in.  What is Komisarek's contract?  NTC??  NMC??

I though Gustavsson was going to be the starter, when was Scrivens given the nod?

Either way, what a great start to the season & a work man like effort tonight. Scrivens had a 97% save percentage for the win.

Nice.

There's a lot to quibble with in this game. Some sluggish play. Barely any shots. Some bad special teams play and so on.

But that said, I mean, this is exactly the kind of game the Leafs need to play from time to time. The second night of a back to back against a substandard team and they grind out a win because they're a better team then Columbus.

I agree. I thought the team looked gassed midway through the 2nd. A perfect night on the PK and no soft goals against helped a lot.

Whozel what?

That's my reaction. But they interviewed her during the first intermission and then they're interviewing her now on the highlight show.

If there's a significance there it's lost on me. I always just assumed they got their anchors out of a vending machine.

Leafs were tired but got a win stolen by their goalie, exactly what they needed. I can't be happier, good teams find ways to win even when they're not all playing their best. Hats off to Scrivens tonight, his first start was reminiscent of Reimer's first start back in January.

I think it was better, I forget exactly what went down that night but tonight man Scrivens made some ridiculous stops.  It is like you take the  desperation highlight  saves that Gus tends to make and blend them with the positioning and poise of Reimer and you come up with Scrivens.  I know it is one game but he did look fantastic and we are allowed to be positive until the wheels fall off at least.
