Game 17 - Battle of Ontario - Sens @ Leafs - Nov 12th, 2011 - 19:00 EST - 5-2 L

I'm pretty sure the team were fun to watch at the starts of the season?

What happened? Did they have that natural instinct coached out of them or something?

I'm so glad I was playing Skyrim instead of watching this game. What a horrible rally attempt. This team needs some help soon.

To be honest with you and sadly I don't think our brain trust sees the same thing.

How can you even say that? Do you think Burke likes to lose? No offense but you have absolutely no backing to make that claim whatsoever. Our management team aren't a bunch of mindless drones, and to think otherwise is just insane.

Apologies if it's been mentioned by others before me but, being as I was out for the game/watching the fight, I didn't get to say it at the time but I have three comments about Coach's Corner:

1) I think it's great that pre-Steckel the Leafs PK sucked because they lost all of their face-offs and need Zigomanis to win those face-offs now with Steckel the Leafs PK sucks because winning face-offs isn't really important and what matters is what happens after the face-offs and they need Zigomanis for that.

2) I really can't make this up. Cherry went on a five minute rant about how stupid it was to let your best players kill penalties and how it should only be your third and fourth line players and then, immediately, segued into a sequence of shots of Doug Gilmour.

3) Did he really need to add creepy old man to his list of attributes?

I'm convinced a combination of Reimer and Armstrong being out is really hurting the team. I don't know why but I feel like the team plays a lot stronger when Army is in the lineup. You can take out most of the bottom two lines and we wouldn't have much of a problem, but take out Army and we do.

Useless tits. Running around nobody with a clue. Game we needed to win. Tough remainder of month. Totally disgusted with the teams effort the last 2 weeks. I'm going to go out on a limb here and probably going to get ragged on but I say we will be in last place in our division by the end of the month. I hope these clowns pick up their act and prove me wrong.

You know, I hate the loss as any of us, but holy hell isn't that a bit premature to say? We still have quite a bit of a cushion between Boston and Montreal.

Not as much as you think. Mtl just won in overtime there's the icing on the night. Hate that team and Boston won as well. Only 5 points back both of them. Like I said I hope they prove me wrong but let's revisit it on the 30th.

Both won tonight, the cushion is 5 points.

I can understand the concern people have, though, after the losing seasons the team has produced recently.

Here's hoping for a win against Phoenix on Tuesday.

Agreed on all counts. Grapes really solidified his insanity with that segment of CC.

Not really, no. On the defensive side of the things, the Leafs weren't bad tonight. The problem is more that they weren't good in other areas.

I don't know. The sens played last night.  They came out real sluggish, didn't press anything, looked lazy... Not sure how much that had to do with playing in Buffalo last night but I'm sure it played a part of it.

Wilson's been here 3 years. Enough said.

True, but 5 points is 5 points. To think the Leafs will go on a three game losing streak while Boston AND Montreal win 3 straight and dropping to last in the division is as likely as the Leafs being ahead of at least one of them. You never know, but still, I'd rather still have hope for the team than say they're going to be dead last after a loss. It's the same old story: They lose, we're condemned to last in our division. We win, we have a shot to string some wins together and be at the top of our division.

Yup I mostly agree with that. We didn't really think we'd finish first in the conference this year, did we? :)

Disappointing night but we should have some better ones soon. Really missing Armstrong, I think he's the "upper" of the team.

What a brilliant argument.

So since I'm a born optimist I'll pick out a few positives.

Kessel/Bozak/Lupul, particularly Kessel and Lupul played very well.

Schenn had possibly his best game of the year.

I think that's about it.

Given Armstrong's injury history in Toronto, they better figure out how to play without him.  He's become as injury prone as our other MIA "top line center".

It's not just the loss tonight. Where have you been? Have you watched the same games as the rest of us the last 2 weeks? We have been outplayed badly most nights. Ottawa sucks and at home we should put them away. The team doesn't know how to put teams away. Sens didn't do anything to deserve this win. We gave it away. All I'm saying is the schedule is tough the rest of this month and if we don't start playing like we did in October it could be uglier by months end.

1 win in the last 4 came against the worst team in the league.  Without Mason and Brodeur blowing up we'd only only have that 1 win in the 6 games this month.  The team has flat sucked in November and is going to sink fast if this keeps up.
