Patrick Sharp played tonight even though his wife was expecting at any moment.

What's a birth anyways?  Aren't there 81 more of those a season?

It's not like they don't own cellphones and tablets for updates from the maternity ward. i mean, when my wife gave birth, it was a whole lot of me waiting around for the little guy to show up.

Plant an iPad at the end of the birthing table with Facetime running, and he could have sneeked peeks on Wilson's iPad while on the bench.  Simple.

And they say people are too disconnected from human interactions these days.  Pff.

What was Grabo doing pro-creating in March anyway?  Intense push for a play-off spot, and he's ...... well you know.

And next time Mr. Grabovski, a little planning so your girlfriend gives birth in the off season would be much appreciated.

* I am totally joking, I wouldn't have missed the birth of any of my three for anything.

When you're playing well, everything seems to go in.

The Hawks were playing at home as well.

There's also a huge difference between, in labour, and expecting at any moment.

My wife has been anywhere from 2 to 10 days late with both kids. So she was "expecting at any moment" but nothing was imminent until she was in labour.

I have absolutely no issue with Grabbo taking time for one of life's few real "miracles" (no I'm not religious). He'll take the time to bond, have no regrets he wasn't there and come back a better player for it.

Yay for us!... Now, if someone can turn Daddy Phaneuf's glorious nod of approval (after the hit on  Sauer) into a gif, that would be boss!

And us Maple Leafs fans, who pay insanely high ticket prices and had to spend money on a premium cable package to be able to watch last night's game, can feel pretty good in the knowledge that the guys on the team will show up to every game and play their heart out provided they don't have something else they'd rather be doing.

Are you knocking Grabovski and/or the team for him not playing last night to attend the birth of his child?

Just my opinion but I absolutely think players should be excused for the births of their children. Their salaries shouldn't matter. Moreover, I assume these things get noticed by player agents.

Me? Heck no. I'm just a paying customer. I still have my priorities straight. Attend a child birth, rebuild a Haitian village, feed the poor, whatever. It's only a hockey game in the grand scheme of things. There are much more worthwhile things they could be doing. The important thing is that they are where their spirit guide tells them they should be.

Yeah that was awesome, loved how his dad got up and approved of the demolition.

Also, are the players getting good enough foot massages? Strikes me as the kind of things agents will notice.

You're seriously telling me that, at a game at which all the team's fathers attended as a group as a recognition of the importance of family to players, Mikhail Grabovski should have forgone the birth of his child to play Game #27 of the season?

I thought we settled this. I think Grabo should be wherever his feeling crystals tell him he should be. I don't want to harsh his mellow. He might sign with a more emotionally sensitive team in the off-season in protest.

Nik, are you drunk? It's either that or I'm too stupid to follow the grand subtlety of your humour.

I mean, I suppose it could also be both.

Jesus, it's 10 in the morning. I don't know what impression I've given you of my drinking but I always, always know to wait for elevenses.
