Game 27: Toronto Maple Leafs @ New York Rangers W4-2

He's Damien Cox now.  Or something.

I'd like to think I'm more Andy Rooney than Damien Cox, thank you very much.

You see, the subtle humour here is that I think that because he's in an entertainment based job where he has to perform 82 nights a year for roughly 20 minutes a night at the top end and earns millions of dollars as a result he should feel compelled to attend those 82 games provided he's healthy and then be subject to the terrible, horrible fate of experiencing childbirth in roughly the same way that 99.99999999999999 percent of men throughout history have(minus you know the jet flight and video recording) that, as we all know, resulted in every child born before 1974 having absolutely no emotional connection to their fathers.

Wackidy-schmakidy-dooo!

In about just as deep of a hole? Yeah, seems about right.

I don't even know what that's supposed to imply. That I'm...dead? That I live in a hole?

Hey, what about me? I was born after 1974 and have absolutely no emotional connection to my father.

Geez, you're almost making me feel guilty for having a deep emotional connection with your father.

Sorry, man, we just hit it off.

I was thinking more of a Bret Hedican or Darryl Sydor.

Darryl Sydor could complain from the back-end like nobody's business. But even he couldn't whine like the late, great Tim "This coffee sucks" Horton.

What was Grabo doing pro-creating in March anyway?  Intense push for a play-off spot, and he's ...... well you know.

And next time Mr. Grabovski, a little planning so your girlfriend gives birth in the off season would be much appreciated.

* I am totally joking, I wouldn't have missed the birth of any of my three for anything.

When you're playing well, everything seems to go in.

That was good..

Pure Gold!!!!

And I'm pretty sure that Grabbo's wife was already in labour when he left because Bowen mentioned that he hoped he made it back before said "baby" was born.  Anyhoo, glad that he went and he should be there.

Great game last night.  Gustavasson came up huge when they needed him and they held on.

He'll take the time to bond, have no regrets he wasn't there and come back a better player for it.

And us Maple Leafs fans, who pay insanely high ticket prices and had to spend money on a premium cable package to be able to watch last night's game, can feel pretty good in the knowledge that the guys on the team will show up to every game and play their heart out provided they don't have something else they'd rather be doing.

No you're totally right. I'd even extend that to say playing in the event of the untimely (or timely even, why not?) death of one or both parents. Or the death of a spouse or child for that matter, I mean you're a paying customer right?
