I don't get this thing from Cox... Did they not flash a stat which shows Reimer having an insanely good EV Sv%? I mean, isn't this more the team letting Reimer down then the other way around?

Who is this Cox that you speak of and why does he matter?

Probably the correct attitude. Anyway, I tried to look up EV Sv% leaders and didn't find that stat anywhere... Know where I can find it by chance?

Good question, try this...

Ah, thanks... Didn't see that when I first checked... So .936%.. 9th best in the league once you remove all the goaltenders who haven't played at least 10 NHL games.

Hockey games are determined by referees more often than not. I don't think any other sport has the outcome of games so connected to the whims of an official.

Last night was no exception.

.936, I didn't realize it was that good. Top-10 among starters. .741 while shorthanded, only DiPietro has a worse SA% in the entire league there.

I also recall Reimer having the 3rd best Ev SV% in the whole league last year. He really is a fantastic even strength goaltender.  I really wish we were capable of taking advantage of that.  :-\

A team with one of the worst PK continues it's undisciplined play.  The Leafs had, according to the scoresheet, 23 minutes in penalties to Buffalo's 4.  Something here doesn't make sense.  What, pray tell me,
for want of something better, is the coaching staff doing about this?

Well 15 minutes of those 23 were from Phaneuf's major penalty.

That's what didn't make sense, Phaneuf takng a major penalty.  Besides, take 23 minus 15 and the remainder is 8.  The Leafs still had twice the penalty minutes than Buffalo's.    :)

For sure, though for a proper comparison I'd only take out the 10 minute misconduct. So, 13 vs. 4. That's not good at all.

Reimer didn't play awful last night, but something off with his timing.  He isn't setting up for shots very well, and seemed to bounce around a lot in the net while on the PK.  I wasn't very impressed with what he was doing.

But the bottom line on the PK is that the Leafs seem to think that as long as they are chasing the puck, everything is ok.  It's almost like they don't realize that they are a man down and that having all four guys chasing after 3-4 opponents still leaves a guy wide open on the other side of the ice.

The reffing was well....it amazes me how much stuff they ignore and then call penalties.  Watching from the arena it didn't look like the calls against the Leafs were all that bad, but a few blatant interference/trips weren't called against Buffalo too.

How bad did the Phaneuf hit look on TV.  It looked pretty clearly from behind, but with the hit being on a guy who has a history of diving, I was wondering whether it was legitimately a 5 and a game kind of penalty.  Especially when he jumped up the second the penalty was actually whistled.
