Goaltending Showdown - Reimer vs. Bernier

Yes it is usually pretty civil here that is why I would like to us to invite friends, relatives, business associates whom we know love the Leafs. More people make for a better more active forum for sure

we have lost a huge amount of posters

Not surprising considering the way some people treat others on this site.

Spend some time on some other forums.  In my experience, this is FAR and away the most respectful and friendly forum I've come across.  Places like HF Boards, reddit, etc are far, far worse than the worst you'll find here.

But are the people that leave going to another board, or just not posting anywhere? Maybe this forum is the best of them all, but that may be like saying what part of your body do you want Mike Tyson to punch you in, no matter where it is, it's going to hurt. Point is we shouldn't evaluate how we treat people based on how others treat other people, just cause we're better than them, doesn't mean we're good.

its not a question of good or bad, better or worse, we obviously like this forum and their are alot of very smart hockey people in here.  I have invited several already, if you all do the same we may see some fresh blood that make the forum pop again.
Hell last season the Marlies board was a haven of activity?if we get two or three posts a week I would be amazed. And the Marlies and prospects are always fun to follow as they are our future team

sorry to be off thread here but I received an email from the host of this site as I am sure we all did.  I really agreed with the tone of the email, we have lost a huge amount of posters and I think we should all agree to email the details on this site to everyone we know whom spends some time thinking about this Team. We do need some knew blood in here a big way.
I have sent the details out to 3 people whom may join. If we all do the same we will have some fresh faces and forums and ideas to share. Just my opinion

I think I might have a new best friend ;)

Sharing our Facebook page is also great:

I am too lazy to support my feeling by solid data but it appears to me that Bernier is somewhat slowing down. I would go few games in a row with James, he is IMO the better (hotter) one right now.

Think I read in his 5 of his last 6 games Bernier's had a sub .900 SV%.

It's 3 out of 4, actually. And two of those are .896 and .897, respectively.

Actually, it's 5 out of his last 6 starts.  You can see for yourself here.  And yes, .896 and .897 are sub-.900 SV% like I said.  The fact they are close to .900 SV% doesn't mean much because .900 isn't good either.

You're acting like I was challenging you or being a jerk or something lol

Anyway I used yahoo sports, which had a confusing game log and I misread it, so I stand corrected.

He is also even .500 at 9-9. Reimer is 7-4.

In comparison, Reimer only has 3 <.915 SV% games all year.  He got pulled in his first (Leafs won), lost in OT to Buffalo, and got blown out by Columbus.

I'm sorry if it came across that way, I didn't think it came across any differently than the way your response did.  And yeah, sometimes Yahoo is slow to update.

Yeah I think Bernier's just coming back to earth a bit right now.

Yea I was  thinking that after I wrote the response. Just took it the wrong way I guess, sorry about that.

And I misread it, yahoo was actually updated. I am too slow for yahoo; there's a sobering thought.

Now 7 of his last 8 games (excluding the CLB game because it was only 8:00) that Bernier has been at .900 or below.

Yeah, the more I see of both of them, the more I think Reimer is the better goalie. You can see Bernier's skills, but, he doesn't seem to have the same level of focus that Reimer has, and he's been letting in a few questionable goals.

Reimer seems to either be up around .920-930 in a game or really bad.  But he's been the better goalie of late.

Yeah, though, I think part of that is that he's not used to the irregular playing time he's been getting. I feel like, if he was getting consistent starts, he'd be putting up the .920+ nights a lot more than the poor nights. He's also been the victim of the team's two worst efforts - Columbus and St Louis.

I do wonder if there's any connection between the more mediocre results that we've seen lately, and the fact that people have stopped asking the "who is the #1?" question.
