In the past, haven't teams parted ways with certain players under mutual agreement, particularly when that player goes to play in Europe?  I don't think this is the slightest bit likely with Clarkson, but it has happened, right?

One strategy if he doesn't improve is to put him in the minors for the rest of his career and hope he gets sick of it and retires.

It's only happened with guys on one year deals earning near the league minimum - and, for the most part, it's been with guys who were playing in the AHL. Unless Clarkson violated the terms of his contract, it's not something that would fly with him, even if he had a contract waiting in Europe.

As for putting him in the minors, he has an NMC, so, he'd have to agree to it, and, even if he did, it doesn't open up enough cap space to be worthwhile.

I hope the refs are working for us tonight!

that depends....is this game in Montreal (in which case the officials are paid by the Bank of Montreal) or in Toronto (in which case there's more likely to be impartial refereeing)

Phil screws up so Reimer fails to bail him out.

Reimer is toast in this town.

Edit: I do predict Phil will score

It's gotta be tough to play in front of a guy and have zero confidence in him.  But that's the way the team's played the past few games. It can affect your entire team's play.
