Jets @ Leafs - Feb. 21st, 7:30pm - TSN4, Fan 590

Can't wait to hear TSN on how Laine won the battle in game 2 against Matthews. What has he done besides shooting 2 pucks into the net? I'll give him credit he can score but what has he done other than that? Nothing.

How do they keep leaving him open? Ridiculous!

Martin was too busy running around with Buff to be in position to do anything.

Which begs the question, why the heck throw him on the ice at the end of the period like that with Kadri and Leivo?

Exactly.  Babcock may be getting paid like a god, but he sure doesn't coach like it sometimes.

Putting the puck in the net is hardly doing nothing!

He's killing us, and killing us but good!

I can see this getting quoted on Jets boards from now until the end of time.

I honestly can't wrap my head around that one. I get that Komarov was just out on the PP, but if he's not ready to go out again Martin is literally the last player I'd put out to replace him. Why not even just use Sosh if you want a 4th liner?

He made a great play right after the draw earlier in this shift too to keep the puck in the offensive zone.

Apparently it was more important to have 3 guys in buff's face than cover the slot ugh

Buff came off the bench and went straight to Kadri for retribution over the hit- sadly he didn't take a penalty in time to negate the goal.  Not surprised Martin was there to protect his teammate.  Defensemen are deep as there should be with two other forwards low.  Laine in the high slot like always... doesn't do anything to get the puck, but sure can put it in-even off our player and in.

It's a good thing we have the best coach in the game of hockey today.  Can you imagine how bad we'd be without him?

I was about to say even Komarov knows he can't shoot. He's been making lower percentage passes out of home plate. Until Willy serves up a beauty dish on a platter after dangling everyone. I've been wondering why he doesn't take the puck deeper on his forays into the OZ because he can clearly handle it.

As for Laine, his secondary skill is actually finding open ice. That's why all his highlights look like open shots.

Really though. I'll say it now he's a better scorer pure goal scorer but he's one dimensional. everything else I say matthews is better. In game one against the Leafs he was unnoticeable for 2 periods. Scored what I thought a lucky first goal. beautiful one timer on a nice feed on a PP and then the OT winner. Yes he had the hat trick and Auston having a chance to win it 10 seconds earlier but for the most part he was quiet. Tonights no different been quiet but capitalizes on his chances.

The biggest problem with this team and I've said it a million times is the defensive coverage. Why good players always seem to pick up points against us because we can't cover s**t. Andersen has to be better as well. Last month he's been horrid.

Well, I guess all I can say is "Brett Hull."  Not the greatest, but also not somebody anyone would turn down for their team either.

Yup, two deflections, a royal road one-timer to the hottest shooter in the NHL, and a rebound in front from not getting the puck out.  Yup, Andersen is the reason we aren't winning this game.

The Jets have scored 4 goals on 15 shots tonight.  Andersen has not played well (at all).  McE  should be getting more starts, IMHO.

In fact, Andersen has let in the most goals of any NHL goaltender this year  (128).

He is currently in 35th place in GAA (at 2.78).  Even Hellebyck who the Jets basically have tried to take away his starts by recalling Pavelec, and who have felt that he has not given them NHL goaltending, is at 2.73 GAA.

And our Andersen is 28th in the NHL in save percentage at .915.

I agree that Andersen has been really bad this past month (among the worst in the NHL), but he has had a pretty mediocre (if not bad) year, given his overall save percentage and GAA.

But of course it is a team defence game, and the Leafs defence is just simply not good right now, either.

But how about that Leivo kid!!
