Sneak preview of the 6th chunk which takes us to the Olympic break.  Starts with a 4 game road trip.  I'd try to analyze the schedule "good" or "bad" but really at this point, the Leafs can't seem to beat anybody so it's all bad.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were to find a way out of this mess, particularly in that 6th set. Of course the odds are against it happening, but if they do start winning again, and with Bolland coming back, hopefully after the break, things may start looking up again. Gotta stay optimistic, or what.....completely give up hope? I'm not turning in the towel just yet. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm still hoping they can salvage this season.

I don't know if your minority, but us with hope are getting overwhelmed with the negative nellies. I see a slight glimare of light at the end of the dark tunnel. Last nights game was a small look at what the team can do, the rest is up to the boys who put on the jersey.

I wouldn't put much stock in last night's game. Despite the scoring talent on the Caps, they've been playing just as bad or worse than the Leafs have all season. A buddy of mine who follows both Caps and Leafs predicted a close game going to a shootout cause both teams have been equally bad at regulation wins. He was almost right. Lol

I really don't know what to make of these guys anymore.  4-4 in this chunk, bookended a 4 game losing streak with two separate 2 game wins.

Last game of the chunk, Leafs have a chance to go 6-4 in this set of 10--who would have thunk it?

At a Starbucks so I'll update the chunk later but I can't believe Leafs went 6-4 in this chunk despite playing some horrible hockey in that 4 game losing streak. It's the second best chunk of the season next to the 7-3 start.

To keep up the pace in the East the Leafs need to get at least 5 points during upcoming road trip. I think it is doable.

Tough week on the road.  Mon/Tues/Thurs/Sat

Let's hope for over .500 in this 10 games.  Takes us to the Olympic break.

Coincidence?  These two best chunks that you mention are the only 10 game chunks where Bozak played all 10 games.

Yeah....probably just coincidence.

You're probably right.  I don't give Bozak enough credit I'll admit that.  The Leafs are a better team when he's in the lineup, despite the fact nobody likes him as a true #1 center.

It's not just that, it's what else can be done with the lineup because of Bozak being back. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Leafs have 2 regulation wins in the 3 games since Holland was put on the 3rd line. Being able to roll 3 lines that can score is an important thing in this league. A little bit more depth can go a long way, and it can turn mediocre efforts into wins.

That's why the loss of Bolland hurt so much.  If he can come back and be effective, Leafs will make the playoffs.

Yup - agree on all counts.  It is going to be a real interesting team once bolland comes back and we can see some of our "depth"...which I am hoping is soon after Sochi.

Good start, I wasn't expecting the win streak to hit 5.  Not expecting a win tonight either, I guess we'll see.

Well, I haven't had to use the red in a while.  I'm guessing neither goalie is getting accolades from last night.  :o
