Leafs @ Capitals - Mar. 3rd, 8:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Babcock looks at the team and thinks the young stars are the problem when they lose, not the washed up veterans he overplays who bring nothing to the table at this stage of their careers.

I don't undestand his love affair for some guys. WTF does he see in Polak? Komarov on the PP. We picked up Plekanec to basically replace Moore. So what was the reason for his idiotic lineup changes? Why was Nylander still not at center? He's played well since Matthews' injury. Play your best friggin lineup plain and simple and your best players should be getting the most ice time. He's a good coach but overrated.

The assumption is that Dubas would take his place as GM but Lou would continue to serve in an advisory role.

I'd note that Friedman and Johnson were the ones with the collaborating reports about this likely being the last season Lou is the GM. Neither of them mentioned Dubas being the one to take over though. It was Kypreos who kinda just threw his name out there like "maybe Dubas takes over". So I'd say it's basically a toss-up between him and Hunter still.

Only makes sense its Dubas, Hunter is out at the rinks scouting constantly.  Went out last night and screwed up my order to the PVR so no game to watch this morning, guess that is a good thing as Leafs look like they played like dogpoop.
I liked the  Tron comment on an earlier post.

That game just sucked. The leafs played like it was 2015, and them jerseys... I hope I never ever have  to see them again, that was just to hard to watch.
I hope they put in an effort next game. They just looked so lost.

The entire team played like crap from the net out, except for McElhinney when he came in.

I've seen enough of these outdoor games.  It was cool the first couple times, now it just seems like, whatever.

I'll say this, I wasn't too happy with an outdoor game so late in the season. I would have preferred another team in the outdoor game. Maybe more time (years) between outdoor games?

Maybe Tampa Bay or Carolina would like to take part in an outdoor game?

Yeah, bottom line it's just one game.  It's also a gimmick game so I'm going to take less away from it.  Too bad it came against a team that was a playoff marker team though because its always nice to see progress in these games.

I'm hoping someone tweets that segment out again, or posts the transcription, because I wasn't fully paying attention until the conversation was underway.

Thanks! Transcribed for the video haters. Man, they use a lot of filler words to string their sentences together so that the other guys on the panel know not to jump in. I cut where it made sense from a sentence structure perspective and where there was an obvious slip of the tongue.

EF: Now technically, I don't think Lou Lamoriello is in the last year of his contract; I think there is term. The question is, Chris, is the term as General Manager or is there another role that he will take in the organization. Technically I don't think he's in the last year of his deal.

CJ: Well it's important we talk about Lou Lamoriello's future to emphasize that this is under the purview of one man: that's Brendan Shanahan, the President of the Leafs and anyone at anytime can change their minds. There have been whispers, going back to last summer, there was a meeting where it was stated out loud, in a group setting, that this would be Lou Lamoriello's last season as the Leafs' General Manager, perhaps, Elliotte, transitioning to some other role, which explains what you're reporting on him having a couple more years on his deal. That's consistent with what I've heard from other people around the league. The Leafs have commented not at all on this, but as we head towards this offseason, we're going to see changes at the executive level. There's going to be more and more conversation until we know what's going to be next.

NK: Based on the lack of, should we say, attention at the trade deadline, it wasn't as if the Toronto  Maple Leafs started speeding up the process here. They seem like a team that wants to stick to the game plan. So based on your report, if in fact that Lou is done and maybe Kyle Dubas takes over, the question is, would Lou Lamoriello take a lesser role to extend that contract obligation, Elliotte, or would he rather just leave?

EF: I wouldn't be surprised if he's in an advisory role for a couple more years.
