I thought at least one of you saw in the playoff performance -- the part of it that was good -- a model for how this team could move forward and improve. Am I mistaken?

I sort of did, and among the frustrations of this season is that the pretty good lineup the team injured itself into for games 2 to 7 wasn't what they built on and isn't something we got to see more of.

Not me.  But what I would have said is keep going with the speed that won the 3 games against BOS.  I sure as hell wouldn't have let Grabs go for nothing, signed Clarkson, or any of that other crap.

Keeping going with the speed is what I meant.

How'd they compete with Boston? Icing fast team, dumping the immobile grit, balancing the attack (3 threatening lines), and playing James Reimer in net.

What's it they do over the summer? Slowed the team down, added more expensive grit, reverted to the top-6/ bottom-6, and put James Reimer on the bench.

Sorry, I didn't read you carefully.  Yes, I agree with you.

What is it Jan - The swoon has already started.
I watched the Islander game, and yes the Leafs were skating, but they were running around like squirrels looking for a nut.
Then i watched the philly/Mtl game. Seemed a big contrast in set plays, and good defense.
What a difference.
This team lacks direction, and it starts in the locker room.
Don't blame Caryle. Had a great off season loaded with new acquisition's where did it go wrong?

It's the usual Leafs stupid mid season slump.
Same as last year and the year before that.
What's different?

So the Sportsnet panel are advocating making more person ell changes before removing Carlyle. So get more Carlyle style players then when that doesn't work have a load of Carlyle style players for a new coach to need to get rid of or not work well with.

It's the 4 stooges. Cut them some slack.

Well, right there is a big part of it. It really wasn't a great off-season. Clarkson has been an expensive bust. Grabovski is lighting it up in Washington. No one was brought in to help out on the blue line. What little depth the team had down the middle eroded. A good chunk of the secondary scoring left. There were a few bright spots in the off-season, but it was hardly great. On top of that, to paraphrase something I read on Twitter, the coach wants his team to play like a fleet of Jeeps, when what he really has is a bunch of Ferraris.

Maybe someday you'll look back on that great off season and not think back to how you felt at the time but instead consider how the changes have worked out in terms of actual performance in the months that followed.

Hockey is not what it used to be.
I hate the fact the NHL puts 4 Zebra's out there.
Their always in the way, and they still miss calls.
It's unbalanced, and stupid.

Get the hell off the ice alrady.
The Leafs are in a slump.
It happens.

Grabovski scores a hat trick and has five points and the Caps win 5-0 tomorrow night.

Carlyle and Nonis fired Saturday morning.

Yeah!

Not ready to fire Nonis yet. He gets a shot with a coach of his choosing.

Does the NHL make an icing statistic? Leafs must be miles out ahead.

Oh, a shortie against now too. Cool.
