Leafs @ Jets - Oct. 19th, 8:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Anyone else find that Nylander tends to be deferring to Matthews?  He seems to be forcing a lot of passes his way.  Could be a chemistry thing.

I dunno, Nylander's played a lot of center.  He and Matthews both have attributes of good centers & wingers.

Credit where it's due: that was a perfectly executed 2-on-1

Shut your damn mouth.

Over the years I've growth accustomed to Gardiner making some not so great decisions...and really, I wouldn't have had a problem with the decision if they were down a goal or 2.

Aside from those two 8-second shifts that led to goals, the Jets have probably been the better team tonight. Just goes to show how important a good powerplay is... and why you should always play your best players on it.

My main debate here this summer (other than Stammer), was how the Leafs didn't need yet ANOTHER tanking season.

Yeah.

Lets see how they are playing after 20 games before we make judgements on we want them to play.

Or just cheer for the win and whatever happens, happens.  You won't lose your soul or anything by doing so.

That's kind of how Nylander generally plays. He also knows that passes to Hyman are a one way street for the most part.

I'm thinking it's a lot easier for Babcock to force Nylander to improve his play away from the puck when he's got the depth to manage icetime according to buy in.

Gardiner caught twice now.

I think he's been reading Herman's posts, and is trying to take himself out of trade considerations.

Lol

He's in that zone of "really good but not untouchably great, yet due for a raise". If his game takes a turn for further improvement then he can play himself into keeper status.

After Matt Martin (7:56) there's a 2 minute gap between the forward with the least amount of ice-time (Brown, 8:51) and most (Matthews/Hyman, 10:51).

And ESPN has Marincin leading everyone at almost 17 minutes. Gardiner at 9.
