Uh Jim, there's like exactly zero chance that this is "going to turn into a 6-5 game."

It has to now if we're going to win!  ???

Now, we only need 7 for the win!  :P

We get 4 more and it will be 6-5....

You definitely could be right, but there was a radio interview on 1050 with Shanahan late last week where he was asked if there was a possibility of younger talent on the Marlies entering the lineup after the TD, and he replied he likes the idea of rewarding effort and giving the up and comers a taste- of course, he could be referring to any number of players on the Marlies, but it was a lot more forthcoming then I expected it to be.

It's more likely that he's referring to the older guys on the Marlies, but, who knows? I just feel like the concussion changed the plans for Nylander. Had he been healthy all year, he'd probably be getting the call.

That's a pretty big jump to me.

It's the type of jump prospects of Nylander's calibre make on a regular basis. It's not as big a jump as you think.

I mean, I'll be happy if he can, I just don't see them planning on it as a certainty.

I'd agree with you if I thought the team expected next season to be much more successful than this one, but I really don't. I think they'll want Nylander to learn on the job, and they won't be particularly concerned if there's a few hiccups along the way - and it's much easier to learn on the job when you're actually playing in a role that's close to the one the team hopes you're going to be able to fill long-term.

They might want Nylander to learn on the job, he can do that at 3C or maybe 2W if something else happens. 2C is a fairly big role to start at. Anywho, I'll say this, if they don't give him a cup of coffee this year to see what he can do, I don't think they bank on it in the offseason.

Anyways, isn't this all moot, as Auston Matthews is going to be the second line centre next year, behind Stamkos?

Karlsson has 59 points in 53 games.  He's on pace to hit 90 points this year.  The last time a defenseman did that was Ray Bourque in 93/94.

So in the history of the Norris, no d-man has won it while missing the playoffs.  If the Sens miss the playoffs, should Karlsson win it?

I honestly don't believe that a handful of games this season will have any real influence on their plans for next season. In fact, my guess is they already have a pretty solid framework in place for how they expect to handle prospects like Nylander based on a few scenarios that involve where they draft and what happens with other transactions that they'll put in place regardless of how many games Nylander plays in the NHL this season.

Well, since it's largely become the best offensive defenceman award . . . sure, why not?

Heh, I had always figured Nylander was a lock to be on the team next year, along with perhaps Brown, and we'd likely see another batch of reclamation projects for deadline deals, and likely finish around the same as this year - the difference being is we'd lose games due to mistakes from highly skilled young players in top line situations, rather than just overall lack of talent.

I'm more interested in what they're going to do with Marner as the wildcard.

No doubt I'm in the minority, but I'm really wary about Stamkos. I just don't see him as an elite player anymore, but he'll be wanting the contract of one.

What is it about this "Flashback" feature that calls for cringe-worthy historic footage of mediocre goalies?

Ok, but otherwise you're really agreeing with me, or me with you...

Well that was the other stat, 52 times the award has been awarded to a d-man that finished in the top 5 in scoring, and 48 of those 52 times, it was awarded to a d-man who finished in the top 3.  I know all these stats because they were arguing on the radio here about why Doughty shouldn't have won the Norris over Karlsson last year.  Funny that the argument was happening again this year.

Sitting on Santa's knee is some kind of real, I guess.

Is it in 4K? I understand that its impossible to enjoy hockey without it now.
