Marlies Talk 14/15 | aka What's Nylander up to?

So it's I wonder if it's just that they had somewhat disappointing final numbers and that dropped them behind some guys who scored a little better. Jenner's kind of the weird one as he's a big guy who was over a PPG.

Yeah, you figure that would have been a Boone to his draft position.

Not helpful?

Didn't really know where to put this, but the article talks about development and Marlies players a fair bit so might as well post it here.  Very interesting IMO:

Not sure if it's been reported elsewhere, but the Sault Star reported that Sheldon Keefe interviewed last week with Shanahan, Hunter, Dubas and Babcock.

Gives an idea of how involved Babcock may be as well.

It makes sense to me even if he won't be prominent in overall decisions.  Having your head coach and AHL coach developing toward the same goals with a similar strategy just seems like common sense.

That's true.

In his most recent 30 Thoughts column Friedman pointed out that when the Wings hired Jeff Blashill from the NCAA he spent his first year in the organization as an assistant coach with the Wings. After that first year he went down to the AHL and was their head coach there for 3 seasons.

So it's possible we see a similar pattern here. Keefe spends a year directly learning from Babcock in the NHL and then goes to the AHL to continue developing as a head coach.
